Naples
Interior walls for a nightclub in Naples, Florida. Designs for multiple rooms, multiple uses. No specific style specified, few specific guidelines given during design and sample process, great faith on the part of the Client and Interior Decorator was given. Thoughtful requests for adjustments to Davids' designs during the job at the scene were made in a few cases by Client and Interior Decorator and usually modifications were made. So far as the wall finishes are concerned, this project was left very much up to the artist to design. The Client and Interior Decorator were very supportive and trusting, the GC was a very supportive facilitator, and the result is a very exciting space. Some finishes were used that had been used in other projects, some with slight modifications in colour and intensity. David designed over 30 samples in addition to the choosing of a few samples from prior projects from which the final group was chosen.
Very heavy bodied copper paint, rich colour and reflective in low light. Can also hold a texture.
The single section shown does not convey the flow of this design in a long stretch of hallway. The sample David had presented and that had been accepted showed even less visual detail than this, and could not possibly solve the problem of design to complete this very extended horizontal area. But as in some other areas at the time of execution there was no one to consult with in solving this design issue. In filling the long horizontal hallway David added considerably more exotic content to this area than anyone including David had originally expected, and the area became a beautiful and sensual extension of Davids original design, which was greatly appreciated by the cleint.
