AMBASSADORS’ ART PRIZE 2005

 

Competition Rules

 

Description: This competition is international in scope and is open to visual artists, 16 years or older, without national or other specific restrictions.

 

Theme : “In the Footsteps of Jules Verne or designs of the future”.

 

The Closing Date for reception of the 15 Euro fee for general entries, 10 Euros for Students under 26 and Less Developed Country participants : 15 OCTOBER 2005 for inscription and fees/31 OCTOBER for receipt of artwork-no acceptances after these dates

 

Competition Dates and Location  :

The latest date for submission of artworks (paintings or drawings) is 15 October, 2005.  Prizes (including recognition of the 10 finalists) will be awarded the 26th of NOVEMBER 2005, the works of the finalists being exhibited at LA MAISON DU PEUPLE, 8 rue de la Praye, B-6200 Chatelet, Belgium   Location of Exhibition of Laureats/Winners : Decourtenay Galleries, 3, rue des brasseurs, 6200 Châtelet, Belgium      Tel +32 486 526628               e-mail admin@art-belgium.com

 

Acceptable Artworks: A maximum of three (3) artworks (paintings or drawings on paper or canvas or other such media) may be submitted for consideration for the competition.  No work may exceed A3 size - this means that the drawing or painting must be sized between letter, A4 or A3 (small poster size maximum). If not, it will not be considered for a prize by the Jury.

 

Composition of the jury :  The Jury will be composed of a group of art ambassadors from numerous communities, nations, critics, professors, journalists and other persons with a concerted interest in the regional and international artistic community.

 

Prizes:                                     AMBASSADORS’ Art Prize  -  1000 euros

DECOURTENAY Prize          -    350 euros

The 10 finalists will be exhibited at the Maison du Peuple, 8, rue de la Praye, 6200 Chatelet, Belgium

 

Entry Fees :  10€ (EUROS) or 13 Dollars $US for Students 26 years or under or artists from less developed countries of Africa, Asia and South America; 15 EUROS or 20 Dollars $US for all other participants.

Entry fees must be received, at the latest, by 15 October, 2005, and preferably, by direct deposit into the BELGIAN (Belgique/Belgien) account mentioning Decourtenay Galleries  (EAP) in EUROS (€), at the Bank “La Banque de la Poste” ;  Account number  n° 000-0045077-69, with the following reference: Claude Geudevert/Ambassadors’ Art Prize 2005 and the name of the participating artist.

 

For payments originating outside of the European Union or the US, all payments must be in Euros, with all bank and exchange fees charges paid for by the sender.  If any other payment form is utilized (guaranteed personal checks, etc.), in addition to the senders bank and exchange fees, if applicable, a supplemental fee of 12€ (twelve EUROS) or 16$US must be included as a handling charge.

 

Transportation and Recuperation of Artworks Submitted : -EAP declines any responsibility concerning the transport (be it by post, courier services, etc.) and condition on arrival of artwork that is sent by any means other than direct transport by the artist participant.

-Decourtenay Galleries affirms that it will handle all artworks submitted with a manner of care equivalent to that of its private exhibitions held on a regular basis at the Decourtenay Galleries, and that, throughout the duration of the competition and eventual exhibition.

-Artists should provide return envelopes prepaid for UPS, DHL, Federal Express or other express services, or Specifically inform the Decourtenay Galleries that they will pay or charges for return via UPS, DHL, Federal Express or other express services, COD (collect on delivery) if they wish return of the artwork submitted. If no such request and envelope are provided, the artwork will not be returned. If these rules are not strictly followed, the Decourtenay Galleries and/or the site of exhibition cannot be held responsible for the return of artworks submitted for consideration.  Therefore, If artists wish to insure their works they must do so on their own volition - we cannot provide for additional assurance for submitted works. If the artist wishes to recuperate the works themselves they must be retrieved before the 31st of December, 2005, or they will revert to and be retained as, the property of the Decourtenay Galleries Ltd. style='mso-special-character:line-break'>
