Custom Leather Order

This is my husbands Ropers wallet back. I started it Yule of 2004. I found it this year and have it all done except for the edging. This photo shows the outline carving mostly done.
This is the same wallet back, almost done with the carving. The big dark spot is where it is wet with water. The leather must be damp to be carved.
Here they are, all carved, painted and sealed. My intent was to make the dragon look like he is being created from the robes of the wizard.
This horse is done on heavy saddle leather, just something freeform to hang on the wall. The finish is antique.
Cars are great fun to do, very detailed and time consuming. The Rocket is on a plain checkbook cover.
This shows the outside of my old roper wallet (that I have carried for 9 years!)and hubbies new one, though it does still need to be edged. This photo also shows you 2 different sewing stitches. The Mustang is edged in a durable kangaroo lace, a braided stitch that is a very nice frame for the artwork. The dragon is sewn with waxed thread, this does not detract from the artwork, and keeps the edges not as bulky.
This photo shows the insides of the roper wallets that I make, I cut these two, punched the holes, the whole thing is handmade. The inside leather can also be carved, a personal word, design or something close to your heart can be put here, away from more prying eyes. I have a kit to do, and will add the pic here when done so you can see the difference. They hold alot of important things, as you can see.
This is an unfinished project, I will finish it someday :) I was aiming for the look of a historical romance novel cover to hang on the wall. It is quite large, 2 ft by 2 ft, roughly.

This was for my daughter, the anime artist whose favorite color is black. Yule gift, 2005. The paint tubes turned out well, I thought.

Same case, other side.

My niece, Jessica, loves dolphins! Yule gift, 2005.

I did her 'cute' dolphins, she loves it!

Lobster on the lighter holder.

This was for another daughter, Christa, the abstract artist who loves butterflies. Yule gift, 2005. This is HER artwork, transferred to the leather and carved. She loves the way it turned out!

Same case, front side with her name on the flap holder.

This pic shows her lighter case and my old case that I did in 1995, the lace has worn off, but the rest is in great shape, I just need to replce the leather lace. It can be dyed any color you want it, if you notice, it is green on this one.

This was for my last daughter, and when I researched giraffes on the net to draw from, I thought them to be quite unattractive!. Yule gift, 2005. The hearts were her idea. This is the front with her name on it. She loves it!

Same case, other side. I had do do a cute giraffe!

Same case, front side, showing her lighter holder.

I did this one several years ago, it has never been used. He said it was too big for his pocket. It has been in a baggie for about 8 years, if you look closely, you can see mold starting to grow in the holes where the lace goes in. Some saddle soap or leather cleaner will clean this right up.

Custom order for this year. Louis was very pleased with my work.
