WHAT IS SITO'S NATURAL SOCIETY

This is a symblic name of an independent cultural movement. It is twelve yaers old and bring the banner of ecology, represented by Sito, Its main character.

Our educational tasks are inspired by sociology, a discipline that must fulfill a social task in excellence. Sociology must monitor that this social tasks is accomplished in all instances. The stones, filled with characters, the workshops, conferences, informal tlaks, parties, books, life messages and teather plays aim to that objetive.

We have been working primarily with children in various activities.We look for the reaffirmation of children's right and values. we look to enlighten their beings by managing the violence from which they are victims in many of the cases.

This social function has also go to handicapped people, drugs adiccts, people suffering from AIDS or cancer, displaced and hurt people from violence, children without parents, retired people, old people, single mothers, workers, street childrens... in parks, private firms, institutions an many family homes.

Sito has travelled throughout Colombia. He went to Quibdó - Chocó; to Suba, Soacha, Fusagasugá, Suesca and Bogotá in Cundinamarca; to Villa de Layva in Boyacá; Palermo and Naiva in Huila; to Santander de Quilichao and Popayan in Cauca; to Tuluá, Cali, Roldanillo, Restrepo, Palmira and Yumbo in Valle del Cauca; to Rionegro an Medellín in Antioquia. Sito and the rest of the characters have travelled like artistic and craft items to many countries: Australia, Spain, Greece, France, Germany, United Kingdom, Switzerland, Italy, The Inited States of America, Canada, Cuba, Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Venzuela, Brazil, Uruguay...

Our movement identifies with the indigenousspirit, the armonic relationsships among the human, plant, animal and mineral natures.

The characters in Sito's Natural Society are: witches, musicmen, scarecrows, mountainclimbers, thinkers, readers, friutsellers, ballerinas, buffons and clows, painters, photografers, sea horses, dogs, cats, donkeys, giraffes, penguins, angels. The women: star, venus, moon, flower, mountain. The men: sun, heart, wind, saturn, lemon, Sito, Bomo, Tepichi... All of them are hand made with palms, textiles, barks of trees, sticks and seeds, collected from the soil, without hurting Mother Nature. They are from one inch high to nine feet tall. We are an energy saver enterprise.

Our tasks dennounce the imperfections of the human nature and society. They highlight the globalization of culture in all its aspects: race, sex, geography...

All the stories look for the reaffirmation of the Colombian identity, talking about indegenous peoples, animal, flower and fruit diversity. The book and the stories can be found in Spanish, English and French.

We believe in life, liberty, love, tenderness, freedom, solidarity and values of work.
