Sorry if you missed Josie’s party, I’ve posted a few pictures to share with you and I would have done it sooner, had I not returned to Arizona and found the remnants of Dolly had caused a sudden green forest to come alive in my courtyard. I've been busy rescuing my garden from weeds that threatened to choke the live out of my plants. My tomato plants had doubled in size during our one week absence, and we actually had grass growing that was knee high. Click on my webpage so you can see my lovely tomato and summer squash plants.

The party/reunion was a blast and I wish you had been with us! Here is Melissa and Letty pinning up the decorations before the guests arrived. Monique and Eddie had also awaken between 3:00 and 4:00 a.m. to setup for the party. I asked Monique if she had forgotten to apply her makeup (she looked a little drained), but she told me she doesn't wear it, she was just tired from lack of sleep. Once the party got going, she forgot how tired she was and participated in the Mexican Limbo Contest.

Daniel and I were so busy getting ready for the trip that we failed to track the progression of tropical storm Dolly. We found out the day after we arrived in Brownsville that Dolly was elevated to hurricane status and was headed our way. We took refuge at Grandma's house and our bathing suits never left our suitcase.

Sandra and company were very busy after the hurricane getting ready for the fiesta that would begin on Friday evening. You can see all the piled up debris behind Ynes and the miniature pony (it really is a pony).

Josie’s 50th Birthday party took place as planned despite Hurricane Dolly’s visit on Wednesday, July 23. The Texas barbeque chef was Eddie and the DJ was little Boris. They both did an excellent job. We were having such a great time, even a neighbor’s dog came to join in the festivities. He drank beer, played with the kids, rolled around in the grass and finally settled down at Arnold’s feet. A while later, the owner came from down the street looking for his retriever in a golf cart, the dog reluctantly left with him.

Sandra had endless games for the family fun time, she must have forgotten the Campos family usually creates their own diversions, like the men doing their tribal dance after the guests had left (I sure hope Sandra doesn’t get run out of Rancho Viejo!).

Next reunion is scheduled for October 2009, when Jaime turns 50. Hope to see you then, no dinosaurs allowed!
