"Cherokee Prayer Blessing"

May the warm winds of heaven
Blow softly upon your house.
May the Great Spirit
Bless all who enter there.
May your mocassins
Make happy tracks
In many snows,
And may the rainbow
Always touch your shoulder.

"Trail of Tears"

In 1830, the Treaty of Dancing Rabbit Creek
forcibly relocated the entire Choctaw nation from
their homeland in Mississippi west to what is now
known as Southeastern Oklahoma.
The trip consisted of 550 miles and over 20,000 Choctaws.
The Choctaws were moved through unsettled
country of dense forests, swamps and swollen rivers.
Only 7,000 Choctaws survived this removal on what
has come to be called...
"The Trail of Tears."

The Eagle is traditionally admired by American Indians
as a great hunter. In most Eagle Dances
you will see the dancers impersonating the Eagle
swooping down to capture it's prey. The
Eagle can also be seen descending from high above
the clouds after a storm. Many believe
the Eagle carries their prayers on its wings,
up through the hole in the sky, to the Creator.
So they dance in honor and use its feathers
in their headdresses and prayer ceremonies.

The Eagle reminds each of us of
the importance of our own dreams and goals.
Dreams give each day purpose and motivates
us to take action.
Dreams give guidance to each step we take.
Never believe anyone who tells you that you
cannot achieve your dreams.
Believe in your ability to make your dreams come true.
Never give up on yourself or your dreams!
Persevere through the hard times with the
SPIRIT OF THE EAGLE!
