Sp4 Tony (Soretoe) Serratore Crewchief "Razorbacks"

I was drafted into the army in December of 1964. I was sent to Fort Knox for basic training. From there I was sent to Fort Rucker Alabama. I trained in aviation mechanics at Fort Rucker. The first class I went to school for was basic aviation maintenance. The second class I went to was for fixed wing aircraft, and the third class I attended was for helicopters. After graduating in July 1965 I went on leave for 30 days. My orders then sent me to Vietnam. I arrived in Viet Nam August 15, 1965 and was stationed in Saigon at Tan Son Nhut Airbase. I joined the 120th Aviation Company at Ellis Compound. I was assigned to ground maintenance for 3 months. Then in November 65 I was assigned to crew a helicopter in the Snoopy platoon. We flew troops and other personal around South Vietnam. After 3 months of this assignment I joined the Razorbacks in February 66. This was a gunship platoon that offered air support for those in need day or night. I served 13 months in Vietnam and was honorably dischared in September of 1966.
