Hailing from Dallas, Texas, the trio known as Nocturne has been a top draw on the metal/dark wave, industrial circuit throughout Texas and Louisiana. Led by alluring frontwoman Lacey Conner, the group also features dynamic guitarist and visionary programmer Chris Telkes and drummer/multi-instrumentalist Ivan McRoy. The band has gained increased exposure opening for the likes of Ministry, Marilyn Manson, the Genitorturers, and Christian Death. The music — a deft mix of ethereal vocals, creepy crawly lyrical imagery, devastating power chords, evocative synthesizer programming and sampling — utilizes the best of modern technology to paint a fanciful industrial-powered aural sin-ema.
Twilight is Nocturne's debut, and it features 15 tracks clocking in at just over 70 minutes. The moods change from all out industrial aggression, as on "Monarch", to wistful and mournful, as on "The Underworld" (previously heard on the gothic/industrial compilation Dim View of the Future), and even to tuneful and poppy, as on the disc's opener, "Seeing Things." The thunderous and suggestive remake of "Submission" will leave Sex Pistols fans scratching their heads. Produced at one of Dallas' top studios with (TAFKA) Prince alumnus Coke Johnson at the board, the CD is a high-production value introduction to one of the most exciting practitioners of heavy rock's darkside.
