Johnny

Unfortunatly, Johnny is no longer touring with Jake but we still love him and we'll miss him! God bless on all you future endevours. I will still keep up this page because he is still part of Jake!

"Johnny 5" (Drummer)

I had the pleasure of meeting Johnny recently when Jake was in town. He told me a funny story to put on my website. He recognized me as "the girl in front row who sang her face off!" Yah, that was me.

He was in Three Hills at the boys' producers house for lunch. Well, their producer has a dog and the dog didn't like Johnny. Next thing you know, Johnny got bit. He was bit in the right thigh and it was bleeding quite a bit. It was all bruised and it hurt! So finally he went to the hospital to get it checked out. Aww... poor guy.

Now here's a little interview from Marty!

Hey there web surfer dudes and dudettes. Marty here. This section is for those of you who have seen us Jakey's in concert and are wondering who in the world is the cute mystery drummer shaking his trees (that means playing the drums) in the back there. The other day I had a chance to sit down and chat with mystery man, otherwise know as Johnny Andrews. Even I learned some new things, and I've known him for...oh a couple of months now. So sit back with a bowl of your favourite tandoori chicken and read up on soontobefamous Johnny 5.

Let's start at the beginning. The boys and I have been playing in Jake for about two years now. About a year and a half of that time, though, was spent in the studio, so we've only been playing shows for about six months. At first we played by ourselves, accompanied by tracks played from a cd. Toby and Josh play guitars and I play bass, so we had that part covered, but we kind of felt like geeks playing along to tracked drums. (It's hard to feel like a cool pop band when there's no drummer backing you up.) So we started looking for someone we could hire to learn our songs and play drums with us. We tried out a few different drummers, some were great, some weren't so great. But we couldn't seem to find someone who was excited enough about the music and ready to commit to drumming for us. And then that's where Johnny came along. But I'll let him tell you that part.

Conclusion: we found a fantastic drummer, and he's going to be playing with us until he gets so sick of us that he leaves, or until we fire him for taking too long in the bathroom. By the way, he's a lovely boy, and guess what ladies! He's single!!!

Enough jabbering, here's the interview... ______________________________

[M]arty: How long have you been drumming with the Jake boyz?

[J]ohnny 5: I've been playing for three months, but the guys are soo nice it seems like we've been playing together for years.

M: Where are you from, originally?

J: My momma's belly...ha ha. Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

M: I notice a little colour in your skin. What have you got in your blood, besides caucasian?

J: My Dad's from Calcutta, India and my mom is from Belgium.

M: So that would make you half Indian and half Belgish?

J: Sure, but it's Belgian, actually.

M: What kind of drums do you play?

J: Dunnett Drums (and proud of it).

M: What nicknames have been bestowed on you since you began rolling with the Jake homies?

J: Seatbelt (I'm safety conscious), The Maharajah of Khoochbijar, and the classic: Johnny 5.

M: You look about 12; how old are you anyway?

J: uh, 20.

M: Who do you want to drum for after you get too big for Jake?

J: Shania Twain or Brian McKnight

M: What's in your cd player right now?

J: Edwin McCain, BBMak, Aurora (I can't escape that one).

M: Where do you live now?

J: I sleep on the floor of the Jake living room in Nashville, TN. You get used to the floor after awhile.

M: What's one thing that drives you crazy about the Jake boys?

J: Only one thing?

M: yes.

J: they don't appreciate my jazz music.

M: How did you get hooked up with Jake?

J: We have a mutual friend who recommended me to them. I sent in a demo video and they sent me a plane ticket.

M: Describe your first gig with Jake.

J: The Celebrate Freedom festival in Dallas, Texas. It was scary cause there were over 200 000 people there, and I hadn't really had a chance to rehearse with the guys before we played.

M: Any last comments you'd like to share with the people out there?

J: If you read this whole thang... thanx.
