Storyteller: Katie

I first heard EVERCLEAR with my oldest sister, Marci. She would take me to school and stuff and listen to a tape of So Much for the Afterglow. I liked it. ("I Will Buy You a New Life" was my favorite.) I was kinda little (at the least, a 3rd grader.....I think), so I didn't go out and try to get the CD, but then I saw the video for "Wonderful," I was like, "Whoa, I remember them!" So, I got Vol. 1....and here we are! -Katie S.

Storyteller: Joe

I have always remembered hearing EVERCLEAR on the radio since So Much for the Afterglow, but never really got into it until 2001 when my friend was always listening to EVERCLEAR. I wasn't exactly a huge fan then, until I went to see Art here in Seattle on his solo tour, and from that point on I have been absolutly hooked and have not missed a show in the area since then. Been front row at every concert too.

Storyteller: Kaitlyn

I first heard of EVERCLEAR when "Father of Mine" came out. I didn't know who they were, and I never saw the whole video either. Then they came out with "Wonderful" in 2000, and I was the only sixth grader who knew who they were. I was also the only one who knew the real words without making them up. The thing that made me like them was the music. I never payed attention to the guys.

Storyteller: Sera

My sister bought their CD, So Much for the Afterglow and I was like, "Who is this EVERCLEAR?" She told me about "Santa Monica," but I had never heard it. So then I saw "Everything to Everyone" on MTV and listened to that song over and over. Finally I started to listen to other songs on it. And the rest, my friends, is history.

Storyteller: Mary

My mom was at work and I was home alone with my sister, and I was watching some good old MTV when "Father of Mine" came on. It was the first piece of music to ever move me, especially that dramatically. I have a rought sad past with my father, that song really reached out and helped me. I liked them a lot, but being so young and poor, I had no money to buy a CD. My elementry school went on a field trip and I sat next to a guy, that would become my long time boyfriend, Mike, and I saw that he had the CD. I spazzed out and he let me listen to it. I bought the CD a week later, now I have every one of them. I am a hardcore fan now! And always. Sadly, Miked moved away the following year. I haven't seen him since.

Storyteller: Cassie

The first time I heard of EVERCLEAR was in like 2000. I was watching TV and the music video to "Wonderful" came on, and my parents were getting divorced at the time so I could relate to it alot. I went out and bought Vol. 1..... the next day, and I've been hooked ever since.

Storyteller: Patty

I think I listened to them since 1998. My parents were always fighting and "I Will Buy You a New Life" was so comforting.

Storyteller: Katie

It was, I think 1997, when "Everything to Everyone" came out, and I fell in love with it. I watched the video every day. Being, I think nine or eight, I didn't know who the band was, but I called it the jump up and down song because, well in the video they're all jumping. Then my sister bought the CD, and then I loved them from then on.....

Stpryteller: Chris

In 2000 when "Wonderful" came out, a friend of mine was like, "Hey, listen to the words of this song," and was like, "Cool, that song rules," because I was big on peace, love, and happiness back then. But I was also like all my friends then, and listened to mostly crappy music. So on one of my fave radio stations (at the time) they have this Cage Match between songs. Tonight's match was: Korn- Freak On A Leash Vs. Everclear- Am Radio And I was thinking to myself "Is this the same EVERCLEAR that did that song 'Wonderful?'" I listened to it and loved it. (And by the way, EVERCLEAR won with 98 percent of the votes.) A couple weeks later, I told my parents I wanted that CD. Not too long after that (about Mid November now), I was riding with my brother around town. He said, "Hey you can look through my CDs and find one you wanna listen to." Knowing that the only thing my brother listened to was hardcore rap I really didn't think I would find anything. At the very back of his CD case was a black CD labeled 'everclear so much for the afterglow.' Studdering slightly I asked, "Is this the the same uh, "Wonderful" EVERCLEAR? I mean the guys who did that song, ya know?" He took it out of my hands, put it in, skipped a couple tracks, and then (playing full blast) he started singing along, "Father of Mine, tell me where have you been..." Then he asked me, "You've never heard of 'Father of Mine?'" About a week or two before Christmas, I saw them on SNL. First came "When it All Goes Wrong Again," which I sat and watched contently. Then they did "AM Radio." I sang and danced and was like "Awesome!" Christmas finally came, and wrapped up and stuck inside a coffee can were my two new CDs Good Time for a Bad Additude and Learning How to Smile. Woo Hoo! Later during the school year, I was shopping in Wal- Mart with my Mom, and I wandered aimlessly over to the eletronics section. Sitting there in the EVERCLEAR thingy were three CDs. Two I already had. The other one for $10.88 was Sparkle and Fade. "Mom you have to get this for me!" I begged. A week went by, I'm doing my homework, and my mom walks in saying, "Here." She plops Sparkle and Fade on my bed and I start screaming many thanx. My next birthday, I got So Much for the Afterglow. And when I was down at a CD store in Arizona in August 2001, I got "World of Noise" for $13.99 I think. Ever since then, I've loved them and cherished them. I will always listen to them and I refuse to put any other band before them.

Storyteller: Jak

I first heard them in about 95/96 when a friend of ours lent my husband some CDs. We were decorating our bedroom at the time, and I was fed up playing the same old music, so I looked through the CDs and saw the cover of Sparkle and Fade and thought it looked interesting. I think I played it continously for a week! I went out and bought the CD and I've been hooked ever since. It's certainly the best music to relieve the monotany of wallpapering!

Storyteller: Joe Boisvert

I remember the first time I heard EVERCLEAR. I was in my sister's truck and "Santa Monica" came on the radio. My sister started singing along with the song and I thought it was the greatest thing I had ever heard, so I asked her who it was. She replied with, "Everclear." And in about 1998, I purchased Sparkle and Fade, followed by So Much for the Afterglow, and so on. So, since about 1997-98 I've been a fan. "Santa Monica" is still my favorite EVERCLEAR song even to this day. I mean, I've heard them all, but it's like it has meaning to me, sentimental value because I can relate to it so well on an emotional level. As with all EVERCLEAR songs, only moreso with "Santa Monica."

Storyteller: Joe

World of Noise, late '95, Uncle's collection of mostly crappy underground grunge CDs on the floor of his pickup truck. Not love at first hear, but it grew on me.

Storyteller: Corrine

When "Wonderful" came out, I was like, "Oh, this is cool." And I loved that song, but I had never really heard of EVERCLEAR before. Then last year I met Craigismybestfriend at school, and all he could talk about was this EVERCLEAR. So, he convinced me to go to launch and watch one of their videos, which happened to be "Volvo Driving Soccer Mom." Then I started watching more EVERCLEAR videos on the internet. And I found "Wonderful" on http://www.findvideos.com, and I was like, "Holy crap! This is that song?" And then I got Slow Motion Daydream and I loved it. I downloaded some songs, (shhh..) and I knew them all, which I thought was weird considering I thought I didn't really know who they were. Then this summer, I got So Much for the Afterglow, and I instantly fell in love with it. I still only have two of their CD's but I plan to get the rest soon.

Stoyryteller: Kate

I've listened to them since "Santa Monica" came out, but I became obsessed (obsessed!!) July 13, 2001. For my eighth grade graduation present, my parents got me tickets for the EVERCLEAR show, and I freaked out! I started crying and I just wouldn't stop! I knew all of So Much for the Afterglow and Sparkle and Fade, but nothing else besides the singles. I went to the show and that night was the best night of my life! (until April 17,2003) I stole my sister's copy of Vol. 2, and for my birthday- a week later- I received Vol. 1 and So Much for the Afterglow, and then I bought Sparkle and Fade and World of Noise. I got them backwards! haha. But since that night, I've always been a fanatic.

ROCK ON! *KATE*

Storyteller: Britt

My friend used to play "Sparkle and Fade" all the time back in '96, and he was always trying to get me into them. So, eventually he turned me onto them, which I'm glad he did even though I'm not friends with him anymore.

Storyteller: Ladislao Sandoval

I met Everclear songs in the late 2000, kinda December, when I first heard "Wonderful" in the radio. I wanted to know who they were. I really liked the song, and asked my best friend who they were. (He's always on the radio, so he almost knows anyone there.), He told me they were called something like EVERCLEAR. I wanted to buy the CD, and I got it I think in March 2001. I really don't remember. After that CD, I bought So Much or the Afterglow, World of Noise, and now the latest Slow Motion Dsyfream. I hope I will get Sparkle and Fade next month and Good Time for a Bad Additude in December or later. I don't know any other Mexican who likes EVERCLEAR, but I don't think I am the only one.

Storyteller: Jarrett

Well, back in '97, it was the first day of school I think actually, and we went into my friends room, (I went there every morning before school- neighbors.) and they put in some CD. It was So Much for the Afterglow. So, I heard them all humming on "So Much For The Afterglow," and I was like, "What is this?" Then the guitars came in and we were playing air guitar and stuff. We only listened to the first six tracks, and I have no idea why. Then after that I got all their CDs, etc, etc...

Storyteller: Meredith

I knew "Santa Monica" of course, and liked it, but "Everthing to Everyone" grabbed me because I was working in the corporate world with lots of white men in black suits (which grabbed me later after I bought the album) and struggling to get them to notice me and promote me, etc. etc. I kept hearing "Everything to Everyone" on the radio, and it kept grabbing me and making me realize how much I sounded like that song. I couldn't get past "I think you are blind to the fact that the hand you hold is the hand that holds you down." Man was THAT true. It made me take myself less seriously and I just HAD to hear more from this genius who'd written these words. You know, not to sound overly dramatic, but it may have changed if not my life then my career.

Storyteller: Will Donovan

I'm 14 now. That means since I was four, EVERCLEAR was making music. My brother picked up Sparkle and Fade when he was looking around in a record store. He listened to it, hated it, so he gave it to me. I don't know whether to give him sh^t or thank him, so I do niether.

Storyteller: Ali

Woah, ok...I think the first EVERCLEAR song I heard was "Wonderful" when I was like...I don't know, eight maybe. I heard it from my brother, and I loved it. I played it over and over and over again, memorizing the words, but then, I guess I just didn't listen to it. I kinda forgot about them. Then like last year, my best friend reintrouduced me to them, and they're so awesome! My total favourite! Me and her were gonna try and get to a concert this year, but no luck. We will someday though...someday!

Storyteller: Arron

The first time... I heard "Father Of Mine" on the radio, but had no idea who they were. I thought the song was pretty cool, but didn't really care to find out who it was. (I was eight.) Then later on that summer, I was looking through my mom's CD collection, and found the album So Much For The Afterglow. I asked my mom for it, and she's like yeah. (It was the summer of 1997.) So I listened to the CD, and reconized the "Father Of Mine" I heard on the radio. They've been my favorite since then.

One late depressing night I saw the "Everything to Everyone" video; it changed my life.

Storyteller: Grant

It all started for me in '98. I had heard "Santa Monica" before (Actually, I had heard the whole album of Sparkle and Fade), but I didn't think much of it. Then one day my friends asked me to go to a show. I said, "Sure, who are we going to see?" They said, "Everclear Marcyplayground and Fastball." I had never heard of any of them. While the time to the concert came up fast, I only learned who Fastball was. When we got to the show, I was excited. It was my first real concert. Fastball came on first and were way awesome as was Marcyplayground. I had no idea who Everclear was, but I had heard and remebered "Santa Monica" and "Everything to Everyone." The house lights cut and the harmonizing of "So Much for the Afterglow" started, and I was like, "What kinda gay stuff did you drag me too?" Then they took the stage in the three piece suits, and I was like, "No way. I'm outta here. The harmonizing, the suits...thanks, but no thanks." Just then, they toar into "So Much for the Afterglow." I was blown away and have been hooked on them ever since. This story has a lot more to it, but I'll save that for another time to share what they mean to me, and need to share some memories on the greatest band ever.

Storyteller: ? (stickyinsidePDX)

OK, my turn...Well, I can't remember that well because it's been along time, but I remember my friend was like twelve and I was ten. I didn't get why she listened to music so much, but then I started getting it. She listened to that Moressette chick, MxPx and EVERCLEAR. I think it was the So Much for the Afterglow CD that she played a lot. I would come home and my brother would be listening to it too. I worshiped my brother, so I loved what he loved. When he would leave for the night, I would sleep in his room and play So Much for the Afterglow on his CD player. I would fall asleep to it, so I didn't know any songs after "Father of Mine" because I would be asleep. When my parents bought me a CD player for my eleventh birthday, I relized I didn't have any CDs. All I had was a Michael Jackson tape to my name, so I went out with my friend and bought Presidents of the United States, Ren and Stimpy, and So Much for the Afterglow. I wore it out, and it skips "I Will Buy You a New Life" and "Why I Don't Believe in God." I still have it. So since then, I've been buying the CDs as they came, and for the past three years, I've gone to the concerts. As you know, I worshiped my brother. Well, he got me into drugs too. I got high seven or eight times. The last time I couldn't control myself and I hated it. I feel asleep to So Much for the Afterglow.

Storyteller: Michael Jennings

A friend of mine leant me Vol. 2 last summer - that was it. I was hooked!

Storyteller: ? (CarrotTopHuggedMe)

The first time I heard EVERCLEAR was when I bought the Now That's What I Call Music Vol.1 CD that has "Father of Mine" on it. I liked that song, so I went out and bought So much For The Afterglow. I was a casual fan for about two years, and then I saw them in concert with Matchbox20 and Lifehouse and was very impressed. That concert experience turned me hardcore, and the very next day I ran out and bought all of their other CDs. I've been a fan since!

Storyteller: Anna

My brother downloaded "I Will Buy a New Life" and "Father of Mine" on our computer a few years ago, and I would always listen to them. After a while, I stopped though and forgot about them. Then I saw "Loser," and I was like, "Hey, that's that band." Once more I forgot about them. Finally this year, I read that EVERCLEAR had a new album coming out, and I was like, "I used to like that band!" So I bought So Much for the Afterglow, Sparkle and Fade, went to a concert, fell in love, bought all the CDs, and lived happily ever after!

Storyteller: Andrew

I have explained my story in full detail in about 4,000 posts, so I'm going to simplify it. Saw "Father of Mine" video, liked the image and music, bought the album, became hooked. Five years later, still my favorite band.
