There are only about 10% of the total number of Curly horses that are gaited. Finding one can be a real challenge! With this webpage we hope to make your search a little easier. Curly horses that preform the "soft gaits" come with one of the following gaits, the foxtrot, Indian Shuffle, stepping pace, single foot or running walk. The foundation horse of the foxtrotting Curlies was an unknown pedigree Curly named Curly Jim. In the 1960`s there was some breedings of Curly Jim to the Missouri Foxtrotters, hence there are now foxtrotting Curlies. Some of the mustang Curlies also gait as do some of the Native line Curlies. Which ever gait you prefer, you can find it in the gaited Curlies. If you have a bad back or just enjoy a smooth ride without trotting, you can do it on a Curly!
