WELCOME to
my "cyber site seeing tour" of Kelowna. I've taken
a variety of
Kelowna Photos, ones I thought would best depict the
unusual climate
and beauty that the Okanagan has to offer. For those
of you who are
unfamiliar with the Okanagan Valley and Kelowna,
it's easily
described as a mini California.
~
The Okanagan
Valley is a narrow valley with a chain of lakes down
it's center.
Kelowna is situated half way along the shores of
Okanagan
Lake which is 80 miles long and up to 400 feet deep.
The region is
very dry, semi arid.
~
A wonderful
variety of fruit is grown here, including peaches,
apricots, cherries,
plums, apples, grapes for wine, and berries too.
(We have lots
of wineries). The natural terrain is mountainous with
pine forests
interspersed with natural grass meadows that dry
and turn a glorious
gold in the summer heat.
Yes, it does
get hot in Canada!
~
Summer daytime
temperatures range between 80 - 100+ deg.
That's when
a swim in OKANAGAN LAKE with it's many
wonderful
beaches is such a treat. People love to holiday here!
We get lots
of visitors from Europe, Japan and the U.S.
There is a fabulous
winter ski resort too,
BIG
WHITE .

On
with the Photos of Kelowna...
KELOWNA
and OKANAGAN LAKE
This photo is an overview of the city of Kelowna on the shores
of Okanagan Lake,
looking south. The next photo was taken from the small clump
of dark green
trees on the shoreline on the lower right.
The first beach photo was taken on the shoreline on the left of
this photo,
just out of sight, but again, looking farther south across the
lake. The Beach photo on
the bottom of this page was taken on the far shore of the lake
as it's pictured above.

So the following views are from the right, left and far middle
shorelines. Of the large
buildings near the shore the smallest one is the Grand Okanagan
Resort and the
other two are condos. The sculpture The Dolphins, is in between
condos and hotel.

THE FLOATING
BRIDGE
This is looking south towards our famous Floating Bridge, the span
is
up in this photo. The bright green grass is the park at the
front of the
Grand Okanagan Resort and the dark green trees in the distance
near
the bridge is our City Park. There is a linear park along
our lake front.

SARSONS BEACH
My friend Pat lives 2 blocks from Sarons Park, this wonderful little
beach.
It's not one of the major beaches and that's part of the beauty
of Kelowna, every
few blocks along the lake you will find tiny but fabulous beach
access parks
for all to enjoy, with views 'to die for'!!
~
BERTRAM PARK
This is the beach at Bertram Park, stunningly beautiful with tall
pine trees almost
to the lake's edge. There is a lake view towards Kelowna
that just doesn't stop!
Food for the soul! This photo is looking west across the
lake to the town
of Westbank in the distance.
