Brandied Almond Bars

 

Base:

1 3/4 c. flour
1/2 c. white sugar
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. margarine
1 egg, beaten

Combine flour, sugar and salt. Cut in margarine, then egg and work 
with fingers until smooth.
Press into jelly roll pan.

Glaze:

1/3 c. margarine
1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. brandy
2 Tbsp. honey
1 pkg. sliced almonds

Combine ingredients for glaze (except nuts) and bring to a boil. 
Remove from heat, add almonds and spread evenly over base.

Bake at 350 deg. for 20 min. until golden brown. 
Cool, cut into diamonds or squares. 
Yields 6 dozen.
