The "O Kee Pa" suspension is an upright vertical suspension in which the figure hangs from hooks in the chest. This is NOT a true O-Kee-Pa nor a Sundance ceremony! Hanging from chest hooks, spiritual as it may be, should never be confused with a ritual that is held sacred in several different Native American cultures. Why is the name misleading? Unfortunately the name was branded onto this hanging many years ago be various and sundry body modification publications and practitioners. So for now the name remains "O Kee Pa."
