Texas artist, Mona
Eagle, combines the vivid
colors and feeling of spaciousness she has
observed in her travels throughout Arizona, New
Mexico, and Texas, imbuing her work with the
vibrancy of the Southwest, its far-reaching
legends, and its timeless splendor. Mona receives
much of her inspiration from Native American
folklore and traditions. From the soaring poetry
of the Aztecs to the haunting hunchback flute
player of the Pueblo Indians, she infuses her art
with an interpretation and arrangement of a
mythical imagery uniquely her own. Her primary
mediums are serigraphy and airbrush acrylics. |

"Three
Musicians" 14 x 16 poster
print order information
"In
addition to Kokopelli, the hunchback flute
player, I was also influenced by African music
and African masks. I want the piece to convey the
joy of making music with primitive instruments -
or the universal urge to make music."

"Music
Lesson"
18
x 24 poster print order information
"As
the traditions of a people are passed along to
the next generation so their customs may
continue, so may my art, I hope, preserve the
wisdom of the past."

"Under
the Prayer Tree"
18
x 22 poster print order information
"I
think creating a prayer tree is a very spiritual
experience - perhaps because the prayers are
visual and have substance - and creating a prayer
tree for someone, for their healing, is probably
the most beautiful and loving thing one could
possibly do for someone else. In the Hopi
tradition each feather represents a prayer. As
the wind blows the feathers away, the prayers are
released."
