"The Heavens Declare The Glory Of The Bomb And The Firmament Showeth His Handiwork" 7"

Melodic hook-ridden punk from sunny San Diego. Sounds happy but the throaty vocals and thick guitar chops put a stop to that. Fans of Jawbreaker will notice similarities but tiltWheel plays it heavier and faster, while spewing their own brand of poetic angst. Don't take my word for it though. Check out what these zines had to say!

"A-side "The Wake"'s about drinking after your friends die. It's got prime Jawbreaker stamped on it like a side of USDA choice - gruff, hurried vocals that the chicks dig in the wounded warrior poet sort of way; guitar, bass, and drum that simultaneously bury and resurrect melody: the melodic church of crunch. Then there's a Moog interlude song. The B-side's a mini-epic loose on the thread of "Bivoauc" of the previously mentioned Jawbreaker. And "Rinse" is pretty sophisticated in all departments. Turn the power down or isolate certain ranges and you've got melody that could be used by highschool football cheerleaders and marching bands. Keep the power where it is, and you get the feeling of accelerating through a clear net. Every move that's made twists the song even tighter. Even though it lasts more than a couple minutes, it mimics the feeling of choking. Everything's light and heavy at the same time. Good stuff."
Flipside #115

"Their blueprint seems to be raw throated vocals over a melodic chaos of guitars, bass and drums all trying to explode and stay tuneful at the same time. It's this tension that is their strength. In such a sea of mediocrity, these guys stand out..."
Maximum Rock N Roll #183

"TiltWheel challenge New Sweet Breath as the best lo-fi hardcore pop-punk band on the planet. They haven't lost a step since my early worship of them a good four years back. There's something truly magical about this band-I think it might be the combination of authenticity and subtlety; not to mention an in-your-face dynamic assualt."
Tail Spins #31

"Thick, catchy riffs and a driving intensity. A buzzing cocoon of chords, frantic drumming and heartfelt, raspy vocals."
Suburban Voice #42

"For an essentially poppy-punk band, these guys don't rely too heavily on melody. Instead, the songs manage to be raw, yet complex and layered as well. This is especially evident on the B-side, with it's really long, drawn out outro, which reminds me of Jawbreaker at their most non-direct, or perhaps even mid period Sonic Youth. Along with bands like JCCC and Everready, add these guys onto your list of surprisingly non-sucky Southern California pop punk."
Ten Things Jesus Wants You To Know #20

"Tiltwheel play in that grey area that stretches somewhere between melodic hardcore (like Grade), and indie stuff (like Seaweed). In fact, Tiltwheel sound a little like both bands, with melody, crunchiness, catchy songs that are mixed together to create an original sound. The vocals are strong yet sung, the music is raw yet soft at times, and the 7" comes off sounding pretty amazing. A strong release, and hopefully the band will get the recognition they deserve."
