FISH THE FINEST STREAMS IN WEST VIRGINIA!!
GUIDE SERVICE
Enjoy fishing some of the finest streams that West Virginia's Monongahela
National Forest and surrounding areas have to offer. In addition to
the fishing, you will also enjoy the breath-taking scenery that lures countless
tourists to the "Mountain State" each year. For the adventuresome
spirit, the rugged Black Water Canyon is a must! Make
certain that you're in good physical condition because it's a
forty-five minute hike to the stream. The trip begins early in
the morning and ends near dark. Those who have fished the Canyon have
been awestruck by its beauty and ruggedness. The Elk River has some of the most
"educated fish" in West Virginia! These are only two of the many
streams that meander through the hills of West Virginia. Shavers Fork of Cheat River, Back Fork of Elk River, South Branch of the Potomac, North Fork of the Cherry River, Slaty Fork , and the Williams are also
Popular Streams of West Virginia!!
As an environmentally friendly guide service, a catch-and-release policy is emphasized so that these pristine streams will offer some of the best fly fishing in the East for many generations.
Appalachian Fly Fishing Guide Service is a permit holder of the Monongahela National Forest and an equal opportunity employer.

ABOUT YOUR INSTRUCTOR
Sam Knotts is a life-long resident
of West Virginia and has been an avid fly fisherman for 36 years. Sam is a graduate of Fairmont State College and has taken graduate classes at West Virginia Wesleyan College. He ties
his own flies and builds his own rods. In addition to the streams of West Virginia,
Sam has fished in the East, West , Alaska , Labrador, and Chile. He is a licensed, certified fly
fishing guide with many years of experience. Because of his concern for the
environment, he supports the efforts of organizations that preserve the
environment for future generations.
Once asked by a friend King Montgomery, who is a free lance writer and photographer, why he enjoyed guiding, Sam replied, "I enjoy sharing my knowledge of fly fishing and the trout streams of this beautiful state. If I can help someone learn more fly fishing techniques, catch trout, see some beautiful mountain scenery, and have an enjoyable time, then I've accomplished my goals as a guide."
