We are Deborah's Tent because Deborah was such an example and role model to women today. She was a powerful woman of God--a prophet, judge, and a mother in Israel. She was definitely a female in leadership! One interesting thing about Deborah is that she sat under a palm tree, which was very rare in Palestine. It was a well-known and solitary landmark.
Many of us feel we stick out like a landmark, or we may feel like we are so rare we are all alone. Others are making ways for the next breed of women leaders to come forth. In Deborah's tent, you will find a place to heal (in safety and privacy), or be refreshed, or to talk with others, ... whatever it takes to get going again, and sent out to possess the land.
I have found that there is a need for women who are in ministry (full or part time)to have a place to share our hearts, our burdens, our REAL lives and REAL conflicts, in a safe place. This is a place of grace-- you won't be in trouble for writing too long of a post (but PLEASE no impersonal teachings. Just sharing. Please don't post your sermons or pet teachings here-- we'd rather you talk from your hearts than from notes ). We endeavor to walk in the grace of Jesus and His love toward one another.
You won't be in trouble for being in a bad mood or feeling overwhelmed. You also won't be in trouble for feeling GOOD and happy! (hehehe) We know that doesn't negate God's power and anointing in your life if you voice your feelings. Please do not forward the posts to anyone else, as we want this to be a confidential place. I, Rev Kathryn Shank, screen each one who asks to subscribe. But if you feel safer in using a pseudonym on the forum page, do so.
I have defined "women in ministry" or clergywomen as being those who are in leadership ministry in the Body of Christ / church/ ministry. This includes the 5 Ministry Gifts (Ephesians 4:11-16) or ministry department heads as well. A worship leader would be applicable. The head of a soup kitchen would be applicable, as well as senior and associate pastors and youth directors. You get the idea! It isn't dependant upon your income coming from the ministry, but your function (even if volunteer, in other words). Welcome fellow Woman of the Cloth! May you enter with peace and with warm acceptance...and find a Song of Triumph in your heart! ~ Rev. Kathryn Shank
