Jim Royle is a well-recognized percussionist in the tri-state area. Besides being a classically trained and accomplished performer, Jim has been a successful teacher in the Fairfield County area for the past fifteen years. Jim is well known for his jazz performances with the Jim Royle All Star Big Band and smaller quartets and trios in area night clubs. One of his recent appearances on CD is with the New England Jazz Ensemble. Currently, he is the president of the Connecticut Chapter of The Percussive Arts Society which is the largest organization of professional percussionists in the United States.
The Jim Royle Drum Studio, located at 1548 Wood Avenue in Bridgeport, Connecticut, is a school of percussion and music which includes drum kit, orchestral, latin, and world percussion. The faculty consists of dedicated percussionists who, with Jim Royle's guidance, follow a time-proven curriculum to develop young talent both musically and technically.
The studio allows students to gain exposure through recitals, ensemble appearances, and guidance towards outside avenues of involvement which enrich and further develop the musician's interpretation and appreciation of a wide variety of styles.
