The United States Bartenders Guild is the sole U.S. representative of the International Bartenders Association

The 1999 National Cocktail Competition  

The Long Drink Competition was held at the Westin Hotel in Long Beach, California, USA on May 2, 1999, and was a great success. The winner, Mr. Fructuoso Prado of the Beverly Hilton, has earned the right to compete against bartenders from 42 other nations at the International Cocktail Competition to be held in Sweden.
The Winning Recipes:

1st Place: Mr. Fructuoso Prado, Beverly Hilton

Ariana's Dream
1 oz Marie Brizard Cream De Cocoa
1 oz Alize Red Passion
1/2 oz Bacardi Carta Blanca Rum
3 oz Tropicana Orange Juice
Drink is blended. Garnish: Slice of Orange and Fresh Strawberry.
Congratulations to Mr. Prado, and best of luck in the International Cocktail Competition! 

2nd Place: Virgil Jones, Balboa Bay Club

O'Suzanna
1 oz Smirnoff Vodka
1 oz Marie Brizard Creme De Noya
2 oz Tavern Margarita Mix
2 oz Minute Maid Orange Juice
Drink is shaken. Garnish: Strawberry with a sprig of mint dusted with powdered sugar.
 

3rd Place: Byron Nevarez, Long Beach Yacht Club

Midnight Express
1 oz Midori Melon Liqueur
1/2 oz Marie Brizard Coconut-Pineapple
Dole Pineapple Juice
Ocean Spray Cranberry Juice
1 oz Blavod Black Vodka
Drink is built. Garnish: Lime, Pineapple and Cherry.

"What is your pleasure?" asked the bartender. I hesitated, being used to words like "What can I do you for?" at my corner bar. But then again, the bartender at my corner bar is not a United States Bartenders Guild bartender like Vincent Cisneros of Mr. B's Sports Bar in Los Alamitos.
