Arnold Vosloo Resource Page:
Hello everyone! Checking in...just got back Saturday from our set visit to Veritas and the freezing cold of Toronto! =) Good grief Lori, how do you ever survive, LOL! =) Anyway, I figured you all might be interested in hearing the details, so I will try and share as much as I can remember, and what is considered kosher First off, let me say that although I did see Arnold Vosloo, I personally did not speak with him. Linda and I had decided beforehand that we would respect the actors workplace and would really only speak with them if they approached us. Knowing that Arnold may be a bit shy, I went in with the knowledge that we may not have the opportunity to speak with him, and was ok with that. =) We arrived at the studios around 9:30 a.m. and everyone was working on setting up the shoot on the set...all of the crew scurrying around with the actors already there as well. The actors that were filming that morning were Arnold, Alex Carter, and Cynthia Martells. There were also a couple of guest actors who were characters for this particular episode as well, besides the extras. The shooting started very soon after our arrival and continued straight through until everyone broke for lunch at 4:30 p.m., then picked up again after an hour and we stayed till they wraped for the day around 12:30 a.m.! We were pretty much left on our own after being escorted to the set. We were assigned to one of the AD's (assistant directors) and he checked on us now and then between his duties to make sure we were doing ok after giving us the general rundown of how things worked. His name was Rick, and he was totally awesome! We had director/studio chairs set up for us and were invited to partake of any of the food and drinks at the craft table as we liked, and that was a good thing, seeing as how the day was long and the coffee was about the only warming thing I could find! The food was awesome too though, by the way! =) The set was in a large warehouse, which on this particular day had no heat. Now mind you, it is VERY cold outside, and although we are not outside, it is not exactly warm in the building. We were dressed for the occasion though and although it was chilly, it was not unbearable. As for the actual scenes, I can tell you that we were treated to quite a bit of activity that day. I won't give any spoilers, cause I don't like to be spoiled myself AND because we promised we wouldn't, LOL! =) What I CAN say is that they did an awesome stunt sequence which made me appreciate the stunt people very much in the detail of their work. There was also a fight scene (another stunt scene), a smoke machine, and some interesting animals! Got you curious now? LOL! Well, you'll just have to wait and see the episode! By the time the late afternoon rolled around, the other three series regulars, Ryan Merriman, Eric Balfour, and Cobie Smulders all appeared on the set. They filmed one scene with the entire cast, and then everyone (of the main cast) left for the day except Ryan and Eric. Their scenes continued on into the evening and Ryan stayed to the end. It was a very long day, but very worth the wait...and you can bet I stayed to the bitter end! =) As for the actors that we actually had the pleasure of meeting...Cynthia stopped by our chairs and chatted with us a bit. She is very sweet and her smile just lit up the room! She is truly beautiful and I am really looking forward to getting to know her character. Eric Balfour is a total nut! He has way more energy than any one single person should be allowed! He came right over to us, teasing us with funny info about us that our AD had told him when he first arrived on set. He came over a couple of more times just to harass...er...I mean...visit with us...LOL! I spied him bebopping around the set a number of times, cutting up when the actors were on their marks, waiting for the cameras to roll. We didn't have the opportunity to meet the other actors...Cobie was only there for one scene that day, but we did have the chance to watch Arnold and Alex film quite a bit. Arnold is much thinner than I imagined he would be, as was Alex. And of course, both men were very attractive! At one point, we headed over to some of the other sets, some of them being the permanent ones like their lab and offices, and others that were still standing from previous filmed episodes. I have to say that the sets are very elaborate and I believe we are going to see some wonderful things on screen that whisk us away on the team's many adventures! We have a lot to look forward to and I can't wait until the show begins airing! =) We had a great time and I'd do it again in a heartbeat! Jayne |
