Reservation Information
La Mata is a village on the Costa Blanca between the towns of Guardamar del Segura and Torrevieja. It is equidistant (30mins drive) from both Alicante (charter flights) and Murcia (BA flights from London) airports and is ideally located for those who want to explore the Costa Blanca coastline. There are many sights to visit, including the island of Tabarca (frequented by scuba divers) which is accessible by ferry from Santa Pola and Torrevieja in summer, and the palm forest in Elche - the largest in Europe. The house is a traditionally Andalucian tiled Moorish style property in a small complex of similar houses which share a communal pool and small landscaped area. It is a few minutes walk from the sandy European Blue Flag beach and village and is situated directly opposite vineyards and the Salinas de La Mata salt lake, natural park and nature reserve (of which there are views from the bedroom windows and sunroof) which is ideal for bird watching, walking and cycling. Water sports are available on the beach during the summer months and horse-riding is available locally. For golf enthusiasts, there are four 18-hole golf courses located within a 20km radius of La Mata and there is a weekly market for those who prefer to shop.
There are many fine Spanish restaurants in the local village and other European tastes are also catered for by the Chinese, Thai, Italian, Basque and fast food restaurants. There are many other varieties of cuisine available a short drive or bus ride away in the nearby towns and villages, so, with the strength of Sterling against the Euro, eating out is a very attractive option.
