Hello, My name is Jim Simpson and I hope you enjoy looking and reading at some of my MEMORIES.   I was sent to VietNam the last of February "67" through October "68".  Did 1 1/2 years over there.  Was with C company 2/503rd Infantry 173rd AIRBORNE BDE. (SEP).   Served a few weeks in the Bien Hoa area operating in 'C' and 'D' Zones.  Then was off to the North Central Highlands at a place called DakTo Near Plieku.   We stayed in the mountains chasing the NVA (North Veitnamese Army) in that area.  We were known as a STRIKE FORCE meaning we moved every day sun up til sun down trying to make contact with enemy.   June 22, 1967 "A" company was below us and we were above on a high mountain.  Next day "A" company walked into an ambush and almost all were killed before we could get too them.  Dug in for the night and could hear all the things below going on as the night drug on.  First light we went down and enemy had withdrawn and we had to recover what was left.   November of 67 the NVA made a massive assault in the area and was heavy fighting all around in the mountains, all our units were in heavy contact.  C 2/503rd with Sister Companys got ambushed taking Hill 875 and were surrounded for like 6 days and nights.  Also a 500 pound bomb was dropped on us taking it's toll.  Called friendly Fire.   Be forwarned this site may be very TRIGGERING too some of you so go at your own risk.   Most of my writing is my feeling's that came out while writing.  Too all that come here be it not forgotten that we were winning and NEVER lost a battle over there.   Also remember the WALL those that gave ALL.  Behind each name is a story in itself. Finally OUR POW's and MIA's lest we never forget them until ALL are home AND ACCOUNTED for. WITH GREAT HONOR & RESPECT JIM SIMPSON AIRBORNE & BACK too BACK!
