NEWS & RESULTS 2004

29/11/04 - Royal Welsh Winter Fair - It was back to RWAS showground for the final time this year and the last show of our season. Amilas Chutney was once again a true gent, behaved perfectly and ended a remarkably consistant season with a third in the Yearling colt class. I should be back down from Cloud 9 in time for the start of the 2005 show season!

20/1/04 - Baby Cob Oscar the baby cob arrived today and he is the sweetest pony I have ever met. His Dam is a successful ridden mare and the aim is that Oscar will follow in his mums footsteps. Thanks to his owners for trusting me with your very special boy.

25/10/04 - Welsh National Foal Show As a slight diversion on Amilas Mazurka's journey home, she attended the Welsh National Foal show, shown brilliantly and turned out to perfection by Emma and Ann of the Frongoch stud who have taken such great care of her all year. I was thrilled with how well she did in a class of 74 entries! 'Maggie Moon' is now home and settling in well.

12/09/04 - He's Back! 'The ginger carthorse' aka Watling Welsh Jackis home. MANY MANY Thanks to Hazel for her hard work and dedication to him over the last year taking him from a just backed baby to a Champion in such a short time. Hazel we wish you all the best with Piper, we are looking forward to cheering you on at HOYS next year.

04/09/04 - Many thanks to everyone who supported Three Shires Show 2004 and congratulations to all the winners.

04/09/04 - Congratulations to Watling Welsh Jackloaned from us by Hazel Richards and ridden by his new WH jockey on winning the M&M Working Hunter Championship at Orsett Show . Hazel then took over the ride and was placed 4th in the ridden Mountain and Moorland.

17-21/08/04 - Ponies UK Summer Championships Thank you to everyone that contributed to a very enjoyable week, Bekky Swift and the Team at Hirodelle for all their work with Amilas Ty Gwyn, Hazel Richards and team with Watling Welsh Jack, Tanina Rushton and family for their hospitality (aka Pimms!) and Rebecca Jarvis, firstly for all the work she has put in behind the scenes over the last few years with both ponies but in particular for determined hard work and faith in Lili and secondly for providing a talking point. Well done to you all too for some wonderful wins, and memorable evening performances.

Watling Welsh Jack and Hazel Richards Results:
Kingsford Open M&M Ridden Championship - 11th in a massive and very strong class including many HOYS ponies. Fantastic result for a ony in his first season under saddle.
Novice M&M Working Hunter Pony - 7th with the highest marks after the jumping phase.
Welsh C/D 4,5,6yr old - 7th - judge said he looks like a nice sort with it all to come next year.
Mini Badminton Mixed Large Breeds - 6th.

Amilas Ty Gwyn Results:
Beginners M&M Nursery Stakes - Although only a novice herself Lili carried 8 yo Alex around her first ever affiliated working hunter course like a true saint, although far from stylish it was a joy to see a demonstration of just how genuine a pony she is.
Welsh Sec A Barren mare in-hand - 4th

03/08/04 - Amilas Imperial has been sold to a wonderful new home. I wish his new owner many years of enjoyment and fun with him. I know he will be loved and I am so pleased you chose him (or did he choose you?)to join your family.
Tamevalley Bo Peep has also been sold, her son and daughter will be retained to continue her line at Amilas. For other ponies for sale from Amilas and other studs please visit sales page.

21/07/04 - Royal Welsh Show 2004 Many thanks to Emma Garside and Natalie Marsh for all their help with Amilas Chutney at this years RWAS. Chutney was placed 17th out of 56 entries in the Yearling Colt class. I am so thrilled that our first homebred (and home produced)pony making the journey to this prestigious show managed to get in the top twenty and in the process standing above some of this seasons consistent prize winners.

11/07/04 - Marsh Rhiannon was placed 5th in the barren mare class at Northleach. As her first in-hand class with us and her first for a while I was pleased with how she went and behaved, I could ask no more from her.

27/06/04- Midland WPCA Silver Medal show the second day of a busy weekend its was the turn of Amilas Chutney(photo above by kind permission of Equine Express photography) who was placed second in a strong class.

26/06/04 - Midlands National In-Hand show Once again a huge Thank You to Kerry Wilson for her amazing foal handling abilities allowing me to take my almost unhandled foal, Amilas Beau Brummel to his first show where he won! His dam Tamevalley Bo Peep was placed 2nd in her class, only her second show in her life. Thank you also to the owners of Wellbank Horratio for trusting me to show their Mark Tamplin produced colt.

12-13/6/04 - Amilas Chutney had another very good day at East Anglian Native Pony Society haveing been Supreme foal here last year he returned this year to win the yearling colt class, Sec A Youngstock Champion, Reserve Section A Champion and best owner bred and produced section A. Congratulations once again to Hazel Richards and Watling Welsh Jack having a busy but successful weekend, 1st Starter WHP, 2nd NPS Novice WH, Clear style and perfomance and a very tired Jack 4th in the Picton.

30/05/04 - Congratulations to Hazel Richards and our Watling Welsh Jack once again giving a foot perfect performance and bringing home a red ribbon. This time it was a 1st in the well filled Kingsford Open ridden M&M class at Foxhounds

23/04/04 - With the foals having all arrived and hopefully the mares all covered we had a chance to go out showing today. We travelled south to the South Eastern WPCA Medal Show and had a great day. Amilas Chutney started the day well being 2nd (I feel a trend building here) in a very strong Yearling colt class, then proved he was his fathers son by 'falling' out the grooms door of the trailer. Hazel Richards once again produced and rode Watling Welsh Jack to be in spot on form to win his first ever Working Hunter Class and then later in the day stood 2nd, with another faultless round and foot perfect show in the NPS Novice WH Welsh Breed Qualifier. Congratulations Hazel, what a superstar team! Although at home grazing Marsh Coral continued to have a successful day following her sons second, her grandson was 4th also in the yearling colts and her granddaughter, Southwaite Charity, 1st in the the 2yo filly class and went on to stand Reserve Youngstock Champion.

11/05/04 - Mrs Ann Langley's palomino mare Wyedean Delilah foaled a beautiful colt foal today sired by Norash BeausonThis colt is for sale to a very special home, an unique opportunity to acquire a colt by Norash Beauson, there isn't another entire by Norash Beauson outside 'Amilas'. Congratulations Ann, sorry he is the wrong colour. click here to see a short video clip

07/05/04 - FOAL #3 Has arrived!!! Tamevalley Bo Peep foaled a tall Bay colt at 10.45pm, it took him a while to get going but there is nothing stopping him now. A full brother to Norash Peek-a-boo he combines the successful Blanche Glimmer and Springbourne caraway cross with that of Pendock Legend, making him line bred to the great Revel Jeeves. He has 4 long white socks and a blaze and is already showing off his incredible movement. Click here to vist his page for photos and more details This the last foal due for 2004 so we can now concentrate on covering and shows.

02/05/04 - Leicester County Show Many Thanks to Pete and Tanina Rushton, Rochedo Stud for asking me to show their palomino yearling Colt Nantdywyll Triban (aka Squidge) today. It was an honour to run out a pony with such spectacular movement, Thanks.

18/04/04 - I'm a very proud mummy today as the first pony I ever bred, Pickle's first daughter, competed in her first PUK Championships and did us proud. Dispite being the coldest and wettest day of April so far, Rebecca Jarvis and Lili (A. Ty Gwyn) went briliiantly in the Confined Novice M&M Final at the Ponies UK Winter Championships earning an initial pull of 2nd and a final place of 8th from 36 entries. The day got even better with Rebecca and Lili the competing in the Llanarth Open M&M final and being placed 5th. Well done and thank you girls!

Easter Weekend 09/04-12/04/04 - We have had a busy weekend begining with NPS area 13 on friday where Amilas Ty Gwyn and Rebecca Jarvis were 6th in both the Novice WH class and the Picton Class. She jumped clear but we were still missing the Turbo button. Rebecca took Lili out again on Sunday to Notts and Lincs NCPA where Lili went alot better to be second in the Picton class. Thank you Rebecca once again for all your hard work. Watling Welsh Jack and Hazel had their second outing of the season at Eastern WPCA on Sunday where Jack went fantastically, being placed in the first season ridden class and looking far more than a novice at his second show. Congratulations Hazel. Finally on Monday it was back to Eastern WPCA at Meldreth Manor with Amilas Chutney who was second in a strong yearling colt class, Norash Peek-a-boo shown by Shortlande Stud being 7th (I think) in the yearling fillies and it was wonderful to meet Bunbury Cahoot again with his new owners Garside Stud, who were second in the Section B 2&3yo colt class to the eventual Champion.

03/04/04 - NPS Area 17 Congatulations to Hazel with our Watling welsh Jack Making his ridden showing debut today in style being placed 3rd in a strong class and qualifying for the PUK Champs at the first try. Many thanks Hazel, for being such a wonderful new mummy to Jack, so pleased all your work paid off with such a good start to the season.

01/04/03 - West Midland Stallion Show Lili did her first HOYS class today , as always superbly piloted and produced by Rebecca Jarvis, and didn't put a hoof wrong though a rocket up her bottom wouldn't have gone amiss. Although she was a bit slow (due her nerves not lazyness) it was a solid start to the season and we can now build on this, boost her confidence a bit more and find the turbo button somewhere. She also did the Novice Working Hunter class and enjoyed this much more, just having 4 faults at the first jump and then going clear over the rest. I was also delighted to watch Sunwillow Jubilee's sire, Heniarth Quip, and Grand Sire, Dukeshill Magnum, standing 2nd and 3rd respectivly in the ridden M&M stallion class.

23/03/04 - NEW FOAL No. 2 The race with Runshaw Stud's Thistledown Walnut was on as both had started to wax and I'm deligted to say Coral won! Foaling a massive Chestnut Sabino filly at 11.30pm and allowing me to get a good nights sleep. I think we have decided on Amilas Confetti for this one because of her unusual colour. She won't be easy to lose! She was a few weeks early (so much for my 4 week gaps) but I don't think she would have managed to fit through the exit if she has 'cooked' much longer. Click here to vist her page for more details Congratulations to Runshaw stud on the birth of R. Welsh Poppy, a dun filly, who was born just a few hours later. One more to go but after a bit of a break to enjoy the two we have so far.

16/03/04 - NEW FOAL At about 2.00pm this afternoon Staines Melody gave birth to her first foal. A beautiful grey filly with 4 socks and the trademark Pickle blaze. We have named her Amilas Mazurka as it keeps in with the musical theme of her dam and she is also line bred to the wonderful Twyford Mazurka. All atempts to call her Mayonnaise have met with widespread disaproval from family and friends so she will be Maggie at home. Maggie has been 6 years in the planning and she was a bit late in making her arrival but this beautiful bold filly is all we could have wished for from this cross and well worth the wait. Click here to vist her page for more detailsMelody and Maggie will soon be on their way to Wales as Melody is to be leased to the Frongoch stud. Coral's foal is expected in the next few weeks.

10/03/04 - Pickle on Tour As part of an inititaive set up by The Royal Society of Chemistry to encourage children to take up science Pickle will be going on tour over the next week, visiting schools as part of the Chemistry at Work demos. Its a job Pickle loves as he is the centre of attention for a whole day at a time and devours any left over packed lunches offered to him. As well as teaching about science it also demonstrates the wonderful nature of the Welsh breed and introduces the Welsh Mountain Pony to many more people.
Update 20/03/04: The last of the Pickle winter tour dates was yesterday and once again it was a very enjoyable few days. As well as the normal Year 9-11 groups we also got the opportunity to visit a nursery school and introduce Pickle to a future generation of Welshie Fans! Two incidents of note where having to prove to a that Pickle was indeed a Stallion to someone who had horses and like many was of the impression Stallions are Nasty beasties and also the most scarey moment was arriving at a school and seeing 200 screaming students heading towards us at spead. I'm afraid I left Pickle to it and hid around the corner. He did't see to mind and I feel he will now be expecting that kind of reception at every venue!

07/03/04 - Conratulations to Rebecca Jarvis and Amilas Ty Gwyn after a short winter break returning to the show ring to win at LEMNPA Spring show

26/02/04 - Many thanks to Shan at Marsh Stud for allowing me to vist and meet her wonderful ponies including Coral's sister Marsh Sappho, the beautiful Sunwillow Roma and their progeny. Did I come home empty handed? Of course not! A flying visit to Greenfields Arabians resulted in two new additions to Amilas in the form of G.A.S Kevin and G.A.S Perry and from Marsh . . . . . well you'll have to wait and see!

15/02/04 - Norash Peek-A-Boo left this morning for her loan home with Stephanie, Jen, and Jo Cole and will be joining, amongst others, Melody's brother Staines Smartie. I wish them the best of luck with her and look forward to seeing her at the shows this summer.

10/02/04 - Norash Beauson is to stand at Dukeshill Stud for the 2004 season. I have no doubts Pickle will enjoy his holiday running out in beautiful surroundings with wonderful 'wives'. Thank you Jo and Kathy for having him and Helen (Runshaw Stud) for starting the ball rolling. Click here to see his online stud card Update April 04 - Pickle will be staying at home now due to transportation difficulties

05/02/04 - Nothing much to report at the moment. Our first 2004 foal is due in four weeks and then they should arrive in four week intervals all going to plan (does it ever?!). All the ponies (except Jack and Lili who are both being taught to jump by their new mummy's) are still out and enjoying their winter break and I'm with Molly dog she knows the best place to be in all the snow and rain we are enjoying at the moment.

25/01/03 - For Leah our little Peke who died today.
A million Times we've called you,A million tears we've cried.
If love could have saved you, you never would have died.
In life we loved you dearly, In death we love you still.
In our hearts you hold a place,no one else will ever fill.
It broke our hearts to lose you, But you didn't go alone.
Part of us went with you, The day God took you home.

25/01/04 - A number of our ponies are to be loaned/leased out for the 2004 show season. With Watling Welsh Jack already happily settled in his new home with Hazel and Lili loaned to Rebecca, at least two more will be off to new temporary homes soon. Watch this space for further details and I will keep this page updated with their results.

Stallions At Stud:
We hope to be able to offer frozen semen from Sunwillow Jubilee for AI to a limited number of aproved mares please contact me for further details. Collections will be made to meet demand so please book early to avoid disappointment. For more information e-mail me by clicking here

Special thanks to the 'team'; Rebecca Jarvis for her help with the ridden ponies and for producing Lili so well and to her back-up crew of Yo and Roy; Nobby Shepherd for showing Squid to win the Sec A Youngstock Championship at East Anglian Native; the ponies breeders, Sharon Scott, Wendy Merryman and Wendy Frank for their continued enthusiasm and support and welcome aboard to Sandy Goodwin, thank you for breeding a lovely mare and thanks again Sharon for letting her join us and her daughter here. Thank you also to the late Beryl Reynolds for breeding such a special mare in Coral.
Good luck to Bekky Swift with Amilas Iona, Hazel Richards with Watling Welsh Jack and to all the owners of Pickle babies, I hope they fulfil the dreams you have for them.
The Final thank you goes to the ponies themselves; it's an honour to share your lives, though a few less vets visits this year would have been quite nice and the annual thank you to Pickle for starting this whole big mess!
To everyone reading this Thank you for visiting my website and sharing the year with me.

Happy New Year!
Sal x

01/12/03 - Royal Welsh Winter Fair We travelled back to the Royal Welsh Showground for the second time this year with Sunwillow Jubilee this time produced from home and shown by me. It was a very wet and cold day but worth all the shivering as he won the Yearling colt class and was Reserve Section A Champion. We also took our foal Amilas Chutney and although the travelling and new sites and sounds were all a bit too much for him, he held it together in the ring and was placed 12th from 38 entries. His performance was also televised on S4C so he now a TV star! A fantastic end to a rollercoaster of a year. Many thanks once again to Kerry for all her help, advice, and enduring 3 days of Welsh ponies, rain and cold with such good grace. For full Winter Fair results click here

10/12/03 - Squid is a star! A photograph of Sunwillow Jubilee with Barry Shepherd and judge Ann Overton-Ablit apears in the Jan '04 issue of Smallholder magazine, illustrating an article on native breeds by Frances Shefield. The photo was taken by Frances at the Eastern WPCA Spring show.

30/12/03 - Watling Welsh Jack and his new mum Hazel, went to their first show together today. It was also Jacks first show since he was a yearling so it was really an exercise to see how he would react to the sight and sounds. Jack was a real star loading and travelling really well and as a bonus managed to to come home with a rossette too. Congratulations Hazel, lets hope this is the first of many for this new partnership.

16/11/03 - Lili and Rebecca did two classes today at Midland Welsh Pony and Cob Association foal and ridden show. They won the Members ridden Welsh Section A & B and were second in their Llanarth class. It was fantastic to see Lili in the ring alongside HOYS and Olympia qualified ponies and cobs and holding her own. We also took Taraco Stud's Craigdorne Celeste who was placed 8th in a huge section A filly foal class.

02/11/03- We took two foals to the British National Foal of the Year Show the filly foal Taraco Stud's Craigdorne Celeste and our own Amilas Chutney both did well in stong classes and were both placed second to the eventual Welsh Champion and reserve foals. Thank you to Kerry Wilson once again whose help was invaluble, without it showing both foals would have been impossible.

26/10/03- At East Midlands WPCA Rebecca and Lili (Amilas Ty Gwyn) were second in the Open Ridden A&B class.

19/10/03 - Rebecca Jarvis and Lili aka Amilas Ty Gwyn continued a successful run at BSPS Area 5 where Lili won the Open M&M ridden class, qualifying for the Llanarth Final at Ponies UK winter champs and went on to stand Reserve Champion.

12/10/03 - Amilas Ty Gwyn aka Lili had another successful day this time at the NCPA Notts & Lincs Branch Autumn Show taking on M&M's of all sizes to be placed 2nd in the Novice ridden class gaining her ticket to the Ponies UK Winter Championships. She then came third in the open ridden. Once again a huge Thank You to Rebecca Jarvis and family.

11/10/03 - Watling Welsh Jack went to his fantastic new home today. Wishing you all the luck and alot of fun with him Hazel. We will follow his progress with interest. Jacks stable didn't remain empty for long though as a trip to Springbourne saw us returning with the Palomino colt Blanche Glitter who is owned by Taraco Stud . Peep and Boo also arrived home today and all are settling in well.

05/10/03 - Our winter show season got under way at Lincs & East Midland Native Autumn Show in style. Amilas Ty Gwyn, produced and shown by Rebecca Jarvis, was placed 2nd in the Novice Ridden M&M and then won her Open M&M ridden class.

01/10/03 - Having managed to sit on my hands for three days at the Fayre Oaks and Polaris sales I finally succumbed to temptation and have added two more ponies to the herd. In an attempt to balance out the boys I'm delighted to announce the addition of Bo-Peep a 5yo Chestnut mare by Springbourne Caraway and her filly foal, Norash Peek-a-boo by Vervale Grenade. Photos added Click for Boo's page. or Click for Peep's page.

26/08/03 - 30/08/03 - B.S.P.S. SummersChampionships 2003 Congratulations to Pat Emsley, J Harley and Nancy's Ap Brenin winning the M&M Summer Heritage Open 138cm WHP class and 2nd in the M&M Novice 138 cm WHP. Mickey was also placed in the M&M novice ridden so had a fantastic week.

30/08/03 - Three Shires Show 2003 my contribution to the hobby from which I get so much pleasure. Sandra Pragnell and I (the total committee) wish to say thank you to everyone who supported the show this year in every shape and form, you are all vital to the continued success of this event. Its was personally very nice to see well filled Welsh clases and congratualtions to all the winners. A special mention has to go to Fosterhouses Ula, winner of the young handlers class, and Nantlais Samswn Bach both ponies I used to own who now are doing a fantastic job of introducing two future handlers to the world of showing and also to Watling Welsh Magic(half brother to my own Watling Welsh Jack) who flew around the ring to win a large Section D yearling class and stand reserve Section D champion. Full results will be available very soon on the Three Shires Show website

23/09/03 - 14th International Show, Aachen Germany: What a fantastic event and even better to be part of it. I could ramble on about it for pages but won't bore you! A huge thank you to the organisers for such a well run show and to Owen Jones, Nebo stud for all his help and taking such excellent care of Pickle.. A very unenthusiastic Pickle was placed 10th in the Sec A stallion class but the experience was worth the effort alone and am now looking forward to Belgium 2005. Congratulations to Owen with Nebo Rachel, International Supreme Champion and Mr & Mrs Watkins and Colin Tibby taking the Reserve Supreme with Blackhill Picalo. For full results in pdf format click here

20/08/03 -Vervale Glitter went home today having tested not in foal. It's sad to see her go as she was very much part of the family having grown up here, but she just clearly didn't want to have that Pickle baby! Glitter is now at Delami Stud, wishing you all the best with her. Wyedean Delilah has tested in foal and will soon be off to her new home another that will be missed but will will watch their futures with interest. It looks like our own mares Marsh Coral and Staines Melody are both safely in foal to Pickle and with Taraco Stud's Vervale Rara, and Ringstead Charming Lass here for a visit Pickle is in his element with a nice herd of mares to supervise all winter! It is fantastic to have Rara return to Amilas even if its only a short visit.

26/7/03 - Its always fantastic to hear news of my old ponies but particularly of those I bred. The picture left is of 2yo gelding Ketchup aka Amilas Imperial who now owned by Carol Davie has this year won 5 1st Prizes (and a 7th!).A very special boy indeed click here to visit ketchup's page

24/07/03 - Royal Welsh 2003 Six years on from our first attempt at the Royal Welsh where Pickle came third in the 3yo colt class we had another go. Sunwillow Jubilee (photo right by Helen Tattersall), had a fantastic visit being placed 2nd in the yearling colt class. Pickle didn't have such a good second visit but went well (pity about his handler) and managed to finish with a place on the front row. In another 6 years we'll try again for that elusive red rossette! Thank you Barry & Nicky, for all their hard work preparing both ponies for the show and to the whole team, Barry, Nicky, Nobby and Vicky for taking such good care of them at the show.
