*Kristy Beth Fry*

February 13, 1987 - July 18, 2001

If you want to know how Kristy died.. here is the whole story..

A deaf Texas high school freshman visiting her mother is believed to have drowned in her mother's swimming pool Wednesday after drinking alcohol, police said. Kristy Fry, 14, of Austin, Texas, was found by her mother at 3:30 a.m. at the bottom of the swimming pool, said Antioch police Sgt. Pat Welch. Kristy and another friend her age stayed up late at the home in the 1100 block of Almond Street after her mother went to bed and were drinking before Kristy fell in the pool, Welch said. Kristy's mother, Patricia Fry, who also is deaf, said she did not allow her daughter to drink alcohol and that she wants her death to send a message to other teens. "Never hide from your parents." Fry said, crying, as her niece interpreted in sign language. "They thought it was OK -- but now look what happened." The girl's best friend was inside the house and may have fallen asleep and not seen Kristy fall in, Welch said. "Her friend was not aware it happened," Welch said. Patricia Fry awoke at 3:30 a.m. to find lights on in the house. She said she looked around for her daughter after she found the other girl so drunk that she was nearly passed out. The two drank many shots of hard liquor in a short period of time, she later learned. Fry found Kristy at the bottom of the pool. She pulled her daughter out and tried CPR without success, she said. The two girls were best friends and had planned to attend a wilderness camp later this month. On Wednesday, Kristy's friend, whom the family asked not be named, sat on the Frys' couch looking at photos of Kristy, but she was too distraught to talk. Kristy had live in the Bay Area with her mother and attended the Fremont School for the Deaf for five years. In Austin, she was attending the School for the Deaf. She was planning to transfer to Austin High School, her mother said. She was athletic and had won school awards in basketball, her mother said. She also excelled in English and science and was voted the funniest student in school. Kristy was a strong swimmer, and one of the first things she did after arriving at the Antioch house was to jump in the pool. Police said her body showed no injuries that would indicate foul play. They are investigating the death as an accident. An autopsy is scheduled for today. Funeral arrangements are pending.

Here is what the people who knew Kristy Fry had to say after they heard about her death.

I want to said to Kristy Fry.. "It's not matter if you dont know me well.. but we will always miss you and never forget about you!! Just rest in peace!!" Ily, Alexa

I've known Kristy for little over a year and she was wonderful to me. She had a lot of things good things happening in her life, winning awards, being voted as the funniest in her school, strong swimmer, and everything. And she blew it all away in the toilet. Now you all know-do not do what Kristy did with her friend, or we'll end up like her. No one of us can ever forget about Kristy and all of her accomplishes she made in her life. ~~I love you, kristy~~ In Loving Memory of Kristi Beth Fry! - Unknown

Hey there. First, let me say that I'm so sorry for your loss. My heart goes out to Kristy's family and to you, her friends. Kristy will always have a special place in my heart, as she will in yours. There's a poem I like to share with you that I have always loved. It's really about love and friendship that has changed through loss or someone having to leave, but I think it applies well, probably, for many of you and your feelings about a really terrific girl we used to know... Kristy Fry. It's called "Company" by Rickie Lee Jones and Alfred Johnson. If you read this and feel that it may help someone else, or someone else needs to read it, feel free to forward it. I don't have everybody's e-mail addresses that I'd like to send to; maybe you can do that for me. Lots of love, Mrs. M.

Company

I'll remember you too clearly

But I'll survive another day

Conversations to share

When there's no one there

I'll imagine what you'd say.

I'll see you in another life now, baby

I'll free you in my dreams

But when I reach across the galaxy

I will miss your company.

Company

I'll be looking for company

Look and listen

Through the years

Someday you may see me

Still crying for company.

So now you're going off to live

your life

You say we'll meet each other

now and then

But we'll never be the same

And I know I'll never have this chance again

No, not like you.

So, I'll see you in another life now, baby

I'll free you in my dreams.

But when I reach across the galaxy

I will miss your company

Company

I'll be looking for company

Look and listen

Through the years

Someday you may see me

Still crying for company.

When she was 5th grade, she always devil and played aorund w me when i am worked at elementarty cottage. I dont want her to playing around w me cuz its my jobs to not play w kids. So, she always stubborn what i say or wont wake up when i told her to wake up for ready school. I love her what she did her own way! When the kids wont listen to me, I told Kristy some help. She told her friends to listen Angela. I noticed that the kids really look up at Kristy Fry. Cuz she is really good at leader! In future, she will be a good leader, get along with other people and athletic. Love always, *Angela*

I find myself guilty of never getting the chance to know this girl, but I have drawn this conclusion: she was a great person who did not have to fade at such a young age. She was voted "funniest girl" in her class, and I assume that she was a fun-loving girl and her altheticism shows her determination in life. With her departure from life, I have come to realize a few things. - Unknown

" I hope that other parents listen to this tragedy and try to teach their children not to drink"  her mother said in the newspaper that I read. In remembrance of Kristy Fry, I will now quit any form of drinking. This is understandably difficult for me to do, but I will try my best to resist the temptation.  i hope you do the same, because we cant ignore the lesson that was taught by this occurrence. Lets make sure her death does not go in vain. - Unknown

Many of my friends have died due to drinking over the years, but the death of Kristy made me think. We are so damn young and our life's are fragile. I hope y'all try to take care of yourself and not make huge mistakes that lead to severe consequence. And a few regrets were expressed  by Kristy's associates, which made me decide to write a poem.

~HARD OF HEARING by Aaron Rocque

We don't think about what we hear

We heard your laughter but we didn't really try to lean over to hear you

we didn't turn up the volume on our hearing aid

to hear you calling our name

We half-heard your story and what you had to offer us.

We were hard of hearing to your life.

the only sound that came in clear was your good-bye

and we wish we sat a bit closer to you

to try to hear your laughter.

While many of you are deaf, not hard of hearing, this poem teaches that you MUST cherish ALL friends at ALL times. Even those that you don't know very well. If you are mad at someone, please keep in your mind that they are human, and  you cannot hate them. Hate has no part in life for us. In summary, I plead to you to not take your friends for granted. I have learned this lesson, sadly, too often.

Our life's are all short. Live it to the fullest and take care of yourself. Please "forget tha world" for a moment and take your time to remember Kristy even if u don't know her well. if you want to, write poems. It can be about your friendship with Kristy fry or your experience with drinking and death, or anything related to this. Even if you have never heard or seen Kristy fry, I hope you can contribute to this trend. You can email to me and ill edit the grammar and put down  all of the in one big email. Thanks.
