It appears that Jonathan Marshall's sense of humour and belief in freedom of the press does not extend to anything mentioning himself. We have received today a "cease and desist" from the lawyers as below:
The contents of the aforementioned website are grossly defamatory of our client and must be removed from the world wide web within twelve (12) hours of this cease and desist order.
This website was brought to our legal department's attention by the New Zealand Police.
Mr Marshall strenuously denies the contents of your website and should the website not be removed we will have no hesitation in pursuing legal action against the website's operators and/or its connected parties.
Furthermore, our client understands that the website has been created in retaliation to his employer's website, www.nztabloid.com and would like to clearly advise you that he was one of the co-creators of the website and is employed for a further two (2) weeks as a media advisor to the website. After that time his contract with the website may or may not be renewed, pending a decision from Mr Marshall.
We also note that you allege Mr Marshall intends publishing the personal address details of prominent New Zealand celebrities. The website's operators advise that www.nztabloid.com will not be publishing such details.
This is quite contrary to the many supportive e-mails we have received (both in what we are doing and in affirming all information we have published) however we will be removing this site from the Internet for now while we take legal advice. Please check again over the next few days.
