Game Recap 4/4 vs. Brizzness Before Pleasure



Elon, NC- The B-Jays won for the second time in three days. This time, their opponent was the friendly rival "Brizzness Before Pleasure." - Plagued by injuries, the B-Jays debuted a fresh group of faces. Chris Wrights, Frank Pike, Aaron Kitenplon, and Jason Boone all made their first starts in the outfield. Steve Anderson was meeting with the MLB Players' Union, Mike Linn was out due to personal matters, and Jake Swain watched-on with a groin pull he sustained last game. - The B-Jays' infield looked different as well. Brian Webb made his first appearance at third, as Jimmy Thomson slid over to shortstop to replace the absent Barry Smoot. - Jake Swain assumed his new position as interim manager, and found the winner's column. - After an early offensive burst, Brizzness jumped out to a 3-0 lead. Fortunately for the B-Jays, their bats were still hot from Sunday. Within a few innings, the lead was stretched to six. Followed by the spectacular defense of Eric Hall, the B-Jays only surrendered two runs for the rest of the game. This allowed the offense to close the deal. The most exciting play of the game came shortly after as Kitenplon slid home, head first, to beat the Mike Garrity tag. Jeff Morrison continued to play hurt, commented on his play and Kitenplon's slide. - "I play softball because i have a passion for the game like none other...I love it more than Pete Rose loves head first slides into home," Morrison said. - With a 3-run home run by Pike, the B-Jays stretched the lead to 12. The game was called in the fifth inning due to mercy rule, the score was 17-5. - Hall picked up his first win of the season, striking out two and allowing just five runs. He will go on a day's rest on Thursday against The Magic Sticks. - Location: The Ground Dome Total Time: 35 minutes Attendance: 7
