"Why must you bring your attitude out in public? If you want to go home, no ones stopping you. I just thought it might be nice for you to get out and experience something new."
"Why the hell would I want to experience this..madness," Zara cried as she looked around at the young faces. "There are what..five other girls that are over the age of twenty here?"
"Sometimes its not about age, Zara..sometimes its just about having fun and doing something you normally wouldn't do," Heather argued as she looked around, wanting to catch a glimpse of NSYNC, who were doing a special for Much Music in Toronto Canada.
"I don't even know who these guys are!"
"Drop the act, Zara..if you didn't know who they were, you wouldn't know they were guys," Heather said smugly, catching her friend in the lie she had just told. "Like I said, no one is stopping you from being here."
Zara opened her mouth to comment, but shut it quickly when screams erupted in the packed crowd. Her hands immediately flew to her ears, trying to block out some of the noise, while her eyes closed. 'Damn you, Heather,' she silently cursed her friend before opening her eyes to see five guys standing on stage, looking surprised to see the number of people that had came out. "I'm so sure this is such a surprise to them," she mumbled, knowing no one else could hear her.
She felt a hand on her shoulder and she turned around to see one of the extra VJs standing behind her. "Can I help you?" she shouted over the screams, not understanding why the woman was looking at her.
"You're one of the older girls here, and I was wondering if you might have an intelligent question to ask the guys," the woman replied as she shot a glare to a girl that had pushed her from behind.
"I'm not really a fan so you might want to ask my friend here," Zara replied before turning to see Heather practically drooling over one of them that were standing on the stage slightly to their left. "On the other hand..I think I can come up with something."
"Good..in about five minutes they're gonna throw the camera to us and you can ask your question and hopefully the guys will be able to hear you."
Zara nodded her head before smiling evilly as a question popped into her mind. 'They won't see this coming.'
It wasn't long before the camera man pointed to the young woman and she pulled Zara closer so they could hear each other better. "I'm here with one of the older fans," she said pausing so Zara could announce her name. "She has a question for you guys."
"Hi..guys..I was just wondering if you guys ever went to acting school," she replied easily, smiling brightly into the camera as their voices came back full of confusion.
"What do you mean, did we go to acting school?"
"You guys have got the surprised looks down to an art, and I must admit for as being as big as you are, you don't seem to flaunt it unlike other artists...acts are easily seen through."
The VJ bit her lip to keep from laughing as the cameraman signaled that they were off the air. She looked at Zara before giving her a high five as people started turning and giving her evil looks. "That was great..thank you!"
Zara smiled at the woman before turning to see Heather looking at her with a mortified expression on her face. "Why the hell were you so rude to them?"
"Sometimes ..being a bitch is fun."
Heather rolled her eyes before looking at the outside stage where the guys had came back out to. She could see JC's eyes searching the crowd for something and someone, and without a doubt in her mind she knew his eyes were looking for Zara. She blocked out the event, not wanting it to interfere with the rest of the show she had came to watch.
"Excuse me, Miss," a deep voice said from behind her.
She turned around and heatedly looked at the man. "What can you possibly want?"
"I have orders to bring you to the guys..they'd like to talk to you about your comment."
"Oh God..just tell them that I was kidding and I have better things to do than talk to some stuck up guys who are making stuff they call music," she said before unlocking her door and trying to open the door, but it wouldn't move because the man's hand was resting on the door. "Can you please remove your hand from my car so I can go home!"
"I'm so sorry miss, but an order is an order. I'm sure it won't take that long and your friend can come along too...look at the bright side..you can let some of this traffic clear out."
Zara rolled her eyes before throwing her hands up in the air and following the buff man. "I can't believe this," she told Heather as the three of them made their way towards the building.
"If you hadn't smarted off, you wouldn't be doing this..but thank you Zar!" Heather exclaimed before pushing her hair behind her ears.
"See my attitude is good for something," she said before sighing as they walked into the building which wasn't like what she had expected. It was simply decorated and there were lots of people rushing around, most of them holding clip boards or microphones.
The man stopped when they reached an area where five other large men were sitting around, mostly talking among themselves. "Where are the guys at?"
"They're in there..." one man said before opening the door and pushing it forward so the two girls could enter. "Just tell them who you are and they'll tell you why you're back here."
"Joy," Zara mumbled before following Heather who had already entered the room. She looked around and had to stop herself from laughing out loud at what they were all doing. Two of them were dancing around to some music that was being played, another two were looking at magazines, and the other was twirling around a basketball like he was an expert. 'The peanut gallery,' she thought to herself before clearing her throat. "Would one of you like to tell us why we're back here?"
The one that had been messing with the basketball looked at her before rolling his eyes. "Yeah..why is she back here?"
"You little.." Zara began but was cut off as Heather's hand covered her mouth, covering up what she had been about to say.
"Actually..I asked for you to be brought back here," one of them said stepping forward and holding his hand out to Zara who looked at him as if he were crazy. "I just thought that you could explain a little bit more of what you meant by your question."
Zara quickly shook his outstretched hand before laughing lightly. "I think you understand what I meant..obviously you can tell I'm not that big of a fan of your music..I'm only here because my so called best friend dragged me here by lying to me. I don't know much about you guys and right now I'd like to be on the way to my house..now if there's no logical reason as to why I'm back here, I'm going to be leaving now," she said before grabbing Heather's arm and pulling her out of the room, stomping her way towards the exit.
"You really need to go to anger management classes or something..you just blew the chance of a lifetime to talk to JC from NSYNC! What the hell are you thinking?"
"I am thinking, Heather. We're different people...they're sissies and I'm a hard rocker. Now get in the damn car and lets get out of here!"
"I'll never understand why we're friends," Heather mumbled as she buckled her seatbelt and watched as the building of Much Music faded into the background.
"Some people are rude," Justin said before reaching for his ringing cell phone. "Lets get the hell out of here," he mumbled before answering the phone.
JC didn't move because he was still in shock of how rude the girl had been. He had never met someone that was so disrespectful to total strangers. He shook his head before grabbing the stuff he had brought and following the rest of the guys to the bus, which was headed back to the hotel where he would be able to get some much deserved sleep. On the way to the hotel, he couldn't get the echo of the girl's voice out of his head. The more he thought about it, he began to feel angry at how rude she had been to presume stuff that she didn't know.
"Yo..JC..umm we're here," Lance said as he looked over at JC who was in the process of gritting his teeth, a habit that he only did when something was on his nerves. "You might want to stop grinding those things..I don't think you'd be able to sing as good with false ones."
"Sorry," JC replied before grabbing his duffle bag and following security off the bus. Once he was finally alone in his room, he laid back on the bed and sighed as the comfort engulfed him. He made no effort to climb to the top and lay down on the pillows, instead he stayed stretched across the bottom as his eyes closed, leading him into sleep. Even though he was lost in his dreams, her voice still echoed in his head.
His eyes shot open before he groaned when he realized that a girl he shouldn't care about was bothering him the way that she was. Why should he care that she didn't like them? Why should he care that she prejudged people? "I've really got to pull myself together," he mumbled before grabbing some clothes and making his way into the bathroom, hoping that a shower would be able to clear his mind and put it back to where it should be.
"Damn it, Heather..I don't care! Fred Durst was just about to.."
"Shut up! Listen at this," she said as she reached for the remote to the small TV that was in the room and turned it on, adjusting the volume to where the two girls could hear it.
" In our look around Toronto, the world's biggest boy band gets a question they can't exactly answer. Yesterday, the boys of NSYNC were surprised on MUCH MUSIC by a girl that wasn't exactly a fan. The boys were speechless on how to answer her, leaving both the fans and hosts shocked. Apparently, the girl asked them if they had ever been to acting school..all they had to do was say no," the news anchor said before the screen flashed to another story.
Zara rolled her eyes before turning off the TV and pushing for Heather to get off her bed. "I can't believe you woke me up for that. I don't care..and ugh why did they have to do that..they must be desperate for some news," she mumbled before closing her eyes and sighing.
"You're famous now, Zar!"
"I'm not..now get the hell away from me!" she said before pulling the pillow out from under her head and hitting Heather with it. Once Heather was gone, Zara's eyes closed, shutting off the world. To her the news story wasn't a big event, but even small news had a way of turning someone's life upside down.
