"Justin, I can't ..we've been over this..now drop the whinning..I don't find it very attractive."
"You know it makes you want me even more than you do right now."
"Whatever, keep telling yourself that."
"Denise?"
"Hmmm?" she asked, as her eyes started to close.
"I love you...and don't get mad when I say this.."
Her eyes snapped open. "Don't get mad when you say what?"
"I want you to go to bed. I know you're tired, and I'm tired so we both need sleep. Now go dream of me. I love you," he said.
Before she could respond, the phone was dead in her ear. She couldn't help but laugh. "I love you too," she whispered into the empty house.
Whitney opened her eyes, and almost screamed when she felt something beside her. She opened her eyes fully, and couldn't help but smile as she saw JC laying next to her. She bent down and kissed his neck softly, placing small kisses all the way up to his lips. He seemed to wake up as soon as her lips connected with his. She pulled back which caused his eyes to open. "Why'd you stop?"
"What time do you have to be back?"
He groaned. "I'm not going back, he said, pulling her closer to him.
"You have to go back..now what time does your plane leave?"
He sighed, and looked at her. "OUR plane leaves at two."
Whitney glanced at the clock before smiling. "We have a few hours, and I'm packed..so you wanna head upstairs?"
He laughed. "Why do we have to go upstairs?"
"Was just a suggestion," she said, leanding down and pressing her lips against his. They came to life, and he lost control soon after. Being away from her was hard, but moments like this gave him the strength to do it.
Denise finished packing her things that she was going to need. In two days, she would get to see Justin. She missed him dearly. Since Whitney had left to join JC, she had been bored and alone. She hadn't lived in Orlando all that long, and hadn't really gotten around to making many friends. But, she didn't need them. She had the guys, but she especially had Justin and that made up for everything else.
She looked at her watch and sighed. She had to be at work in fifteen minutes and it looked as if she was going to be late. She grabbed her keys, and rushed out the door. She hadn't been in her car three minutes and her cell phone rang. She knew that it was Justin, and as much as she
loved talking to him, she needed to pay attention to the road. She grabbed her phone, and quickly put it up to her ear. "Look Justin..I can't talk right now."
He chuckled. "How did you know it was me?"
"I don't have time to play games right now, Justin. I'm going to be late for work, and I'm in the car driving. I need to pay attention to the road. I'll call you as soon as I get off."
"Ok, I love you," he said, sad that she couldn't talk to him.
"I love you too," she said, clicking the phone off and throwing it in the seat beside her. Her eyes were on the road, but nothing could have prepared her for the car running the redlight in front of her. She hit her brakes, but it was too late. "Justin," she said, before everything went black.
Whitney nodded her head. "Have you ever had those feelings when you know something bad is going to happen?"
Stephanie didn't get to respond, because Whitney's cell phone began to ring, which grabbed the attention of everyone in the room. She placed the phone up to her ear, and spoke softly, as not to disturb anyone. "Hello?"
"May I speak with Whitney Littleton?"
"Um that would be me."
"Hi, Ms. Littleton, I'm a nurse at Memorial Hospital. Your friend Denise Johnson was in a very bad car wreck, and she's in critical condition right now. We dont' know how to contact her family, and the only reason we have your number is we found it in her purse.."
"Ohmigosh," she said, feeling her face drain of color. "I'm in South Carolina..I'll catch the next flight available," she said, before hanging up.
JC had sensed something wrong, and had made his way over to his girlfriend. "Baby, what's wrong?"
"Denise was in a car accident...a very serious one..she's not doing to good," Whitney said, as the tears spilled down her cheeks. Justin froze. He must have heard wrong.
"Please tell me that you're not referring to Denise ..as in my girlfriend Denise."
Whitney turned to face him. "I'm sorry, Justin..I wish I could say I wasn't, but that's the only Denise that I know."
"Oh God," he said, feeling his legs going weak. He turned to JC. "I'm going to her. Johnny can't expect me to stay here while the woman that I love is in the hospital."
JC nodded his head. "Go with Whitney. If he gives you any shit, I'll cover for you."
Whitney and Justin rushed out the door. As Justin left, he recieved a weird look from Johnny. Jc spoke up. "Denise was in a bad car wreck and she's in critical condtion..you can't ask him to stay here."
"JC, what the hell are we suppose to say about where he is?"
JC shrugged his shoulders. "Just say that he came down with a virus and he wasn't feeling all that well. It's no big deal..but I'm telling you as soon as this interview is over, I'm flying to Orlando."
Johnny sighed. "JC, I can't let you do that.."
"You can't expect us to stay here when one of our friends is laying in the hospital fighting for her life," Chris said, coming to JC's aid. "Emergencies happen, and when they do, you have to make changes. You have the authority to reschedule interviews..use it. I'm out of here too when this is over."
Johnny sighed. "Fine..."
JC turned to look at Stephanie who had tears in her eyes. "Will you call Whitney in a few hours to make sure that Justin and her arrived ok?"
She nodded her head, and turned to the comfort of Lance's arms. Life was good, but at times it always had to drop down. It just sucked when it had to go this far down.
The nurse looked at him. "Are you kin to her?"
Whitney shook her head, and started to talk impatiently. "I'm her friend, this is her boyfriend, and they dont' know how to reach her parents."
The nurse looked at the two of them and sighed. "Then I'm sorry, I can't give out that information.."
Justin was about to speak, before Whitney stepped up. "Damn it ...tell us where the hell she is. This is important."
The nurse sighed. "Fine, got to the third floor..she's in the Critical Care unit. No one's allowed in there but you may be able to find someone that can update you on her condition."
They ran back towards the elevators and headed to the third floor. As the walked out, Justin took a deep breath. He wanted so much to see her and hold her in his arms. They walked into the waiting room, and looked around. There was a small nurses desk in the corner of the room. Justin took off to walk towards it, but Whitney stopped him. "Justin, sit down, I don't want you to go off..and besides you look like you're about to drop any minute."
He nodded his head and walked to a chair, sitting down with a sigh. He watched as Whitney walked over to the desk, and tried his best to read her facial expressions. She came back, and sat down in the empty seat beside him. "The doctor is still in there..all I know is she's unconcious right now.."
"Do you know what happened?" he asked, choking back his tears.
She rubbed his back soothingly. "No...the nurse didn't know that much..but listen..stay up here incase they come out with some news. I'm going to go call JC and let him know that we made it ok," she said, waiting for a response from him, and not getting one. The only sign she got from him was a nod of his head.
She stood up and walked out of the room to the nearest pay phone. After finding the correct change, she dialed JC's cell phone and waited. After two rings he picked up. "This is Josh."
"JC, we made it ok."
He exhaled slowly. "How is she?"
Since the phone cord was long, she slid down the wall and sat there. "They don't know anything. The doctor is still in there..all the nurse would tell me is that she's unconcious..she didn't even know exactly what happened."
"Listen, Whitney, you have to be strong for Justin right now...we're all catching a plane home right now so I'm going to go. What hospital is she at?"
"She's at memorial hospital. We're on the third floor in CCU."
He inhaled sharply. "She's in CCU? Damn...listen baby, I've gotta go cause we're fixing to board the plane..but I'll see you in a few hours. I love you sweetheart," he said.
"JC, I love you so much," she whispered into the phone.
"It's going to be ok..now be strong. I'll be there soon," he said, before hanging up.
After calming herself down, she walked back into the waiting room to see Justin staring off in space. She walked back to him and sat down in the chair that she had previously been in. "The guys are on their way..."
He turned to her, tears filling his blue eyes. "I can't stand this," he said, taking a deep breath. "I have to know if she's ok or not...Whitney she has my heart..and if something bad happens to her..I..I won't be able to go on," he said, breaking down into tears.
She placed her arm around him, pulling him to her, allowing him to cry on her shoulder. "Justin, don't you even think that..she's going to be ok...she's going to come out of there..stronger than she was..she's strong..she can fight through this," she said, reaching up to wipe his tears away. His eyes drifted up to hers. "Thank you for being here with me."
She smiled gently. "You know I wouldn't leave you by yourself during something like this.."
He straightened back up, and leaned back in his chair. "I hate waiting.."
She nodded her head. But waiting was the only thing that they could do.
