*Two hours later*

Justin looked up at the clock and sighed. They still didn't know anything, and not knowing was driving him crazy. He was now by himself, because Whitney had walked down to the cafeteria to get them something to drink. His eyes watched as the seconds hand on the clock ticked by. Every move that was made, caught his eye. He just hoped that he would know something soon, before he went crazy.

Whitney walked down the long corridor to the cafeteria. Her hope was fading..not knowing anything and keeping your hope up, was hard to do. She couldn't wait until JC got there so he could hold her and tell her everything was going to be ok. Plus, she was finding it hard to remain strong for Justin. She wanted to give him her strength, but it was running low.

She paid for her coffee and Justin's coke, and walked out the door. She thought her eyes were playing tricks on her, but she knew it was him. "JC!" she called out, walking faster towards him.

His eyes searched for her, and when he saw her, his heart broke. Her eyes were red from crying, she was pale, and at that moment she looked as if she was ready to give up hope. When she reached him, he wrapped his arms around her and pulled her close to his chest. "God..hunny are you ok? You're shaking.."

She looked up a brief moment before returning her head to his chest. She was sobbing. He knew that she tried to put up a front as being strong, but that front broke at times. "Shh..Whitney...don't close up on me here.." he said, stroking her hair softly.

"JC..I can't do this...he..he's desperately leaning on me here..and...and I don't have any strength to lend him..I'm so scared for her.."

He pulled back so he could look in her eyes. "Look at me..she's going to be fine. Now lets go up there incase they come out and say something.."

She wiped her eyes, and handed JC one of the drinks she was carrying. He took it and put his other arm around her. When they reached the CCU waiting room, they saw Justin sitting in the same spot, but now his attention was turned to the tv that was on in the room. Whitney looked at JC and sighed. "He hasn't moved from that spot in two hours.."

JC nodded his head and walked over to his bandmate. "Justin..how you holdin up?"

His bloodshot eyes looked at him, and JC almost cringed at the site of them. "I can't loose her, JC..."

He patted Justin on the shoulder. "It's going to be ok..." he said, a split second before the nurse came up to them. "Denise's doctor is in the councling room..and he'd like to speak to you all."

Justin hopped out of the chair and followed the nurse back to the room. When he got there, the doctor was sitting at a small desk. When he saw the three of them enter, he gave a small smile. "I'm Doctor Higgins," he said, standing up to shake their hands.

"What happened?" Whitney asked, sitting in the chair that was beside Justin's.

"A car ran a redlight, and hit her car into another one....the hardest impact was on the drivers side. She's been in surgeory for the past few hours....I'm not going to lie to you..she needs a miracle..but that miracle could happen. Right now her vital signs are strong...but she's still unconcious."

Justin nodded his head, too stunned by the news that he had heard. "Do you honestly think that she'll come out of this?"

The doctor sighed and removed his glasses. "I think there's a chance she could...but she's going to have to be strong to do this."

"She's a fighter," JC said strongly, as he stood behind Whitney and massaged her shoulders. "Can we see her?"

The doctor nodded his head. "Two at a time..."

Justin nodded his head. "Can I go in there alone you guys?"

Whitney smiled. "Of course, Justin," she said, watching him follow the doctor out of the room. Once he was gone, she broke down. JC quickly wrapped her in his arms. "Don't you do that," he scolded softly. "She's a fighter.."

"JC...she..."

He shook his head. "Don't you dare start thinking that way. I won't allow you to do it."

He held her shaking body, as she cried into his chest. "Let me tell you something, baby. You can't do this..you can't give up hope. Justin needs you..Denise needs you....you can't give up yet."

"I can't do it...."

His eyes slammed into hers. "You're strong. You have to be right now..I won't sit here and let you give up so easily. You heard the doctor...there's a chance, and it may be slim..but that's a chance."

Whitney nodded her head. "I..I just want her to be ok," she said, burying her head in the crook of his neck. He sighed and silently prayed. Things had to be ok.

Justin walked into the room that the doctor had showed him, and the tears poured down his cheek as he saw her lying in the bed. There were all types of monitors, wires, and bandages on her. He walked slowly towards her bed, looking at her small body lying there. He pulled up a chair, and took her hand. He kissed the back of it, and closed his eyes. "I love you, Denise," he said, once he had opened his eyes. "You've..you've got to get through this..I need you baby," he whispered to her.

"You can't leave me..you have to fight.." he whispered into the empty room. "You..you have to."

Denise laid there, hearing his voice. She tried to speak, but nothing would come out. Nothing on her body would move. "What's happening?" she asked into the blackness that surrouned her.

"You're in the waiting stage," a voice said behind her. She turned around and her eyes searched the darkness. "Who's there?"

The figure stepped forward, and she squinted her eyes as the light filled the space. "Surely you remember me," the voice asked.

"Becky?" she asked in a surprised voice.

She nodded her head. "That's me...its been a while, Denise. Trust me..you shouldn't be here. You can't give up hope, and shut down. Justin needs you..fight."

Denise cried. "I..I don't know what happened. I..I don't know what to do..I'm so scared..I want to make it all go away."

Becky walked to her and put her arm around her comforting. "You can't say that..you're giving up..and you can't. Fight with all your strength. Fight for your friends, family, but most of all fight for that man down there. He loves you with all of his heart..and he needs you in his life."

Denise cried harder. "He's so perfect," she whispered.

"There's your reason to fight. You have to show Him that there's a reason for you to go back. You have a few days....there's a part of you wanting to give up, or you wouldn't be here right now."

Denise nodded her head, and looked back down at the vision of Justin she saw. He was holding her hand, crying softly, and looking at her..hope present in his eyes. "I'm going to fight for him..."

Justin reluctantly left the room so that JC and Whitney could come in. Whitney walked to the chair that Justin had previously been in. JC hung back, allowing her the time to talk to Denise. Whitney took her hand, feeling it was still warm from where Justin had been holding it. "Denise," she whispered, in the back of her mind praying that she would wake up and answer her.

After taking a deep breath to hold off her tears, she spoke again. Her voice was low and shaky. "Denise..hunnie..you can't leave him. Please fight for him. He needs you.. we all do."

She paused when she felt JC's hand touch her shoulder. She looked at him, and tried to smile. The two of them stayed in there a few more minutes, before getting up and heading back into the waiting room. When they walked out, there was a nurse talking to Justin. Whitney and JC walked over to them, catching the end of the conversation.

"We're sitting up a private room for you guys..that way you won't be disturbed while you're here."

Justin smiled slightly. "Thank you," he said, turning to the two of them as the nurse walked away. "Are the other guys still doing interviews?"

JC shook his head. "No...they are getting settled in right now..and they said that they'd be over here as soon as they could."

Justin nodded his head, and ran his hand through his hair. "She looked so small..."

JC put an arm around Justin and led him to the nurse that was waiting on them. "Don't worry about it, Justin. She's going to come out of here. Now go in here and get some rest. I can see you're tired," he said, as they walked into the room that had been prepared for them. There were chairs that pulled into beds, and JC led Justin over to one of them. "Lay down and sleep. You need to rest up."

"I can't sleep..she's all that I can think about."

JC sighed. "I'm going to go call the rest of the guys and let them know what's going on. Stay here incase something happens.." he said, before turning to Whitney. "Just like I told Justin..I want you to get some sleep."

She nodded her head, and continued to stare off into space. JC sighed before leaving the room. There wasn't going to be a hope in the world, if the two people who were the strongest of them all, shut down. He shook his head and made his way over to the phone, hopefully the other guys would know a way to help restore their faith.

After he called the guys, he decided to get Whitney and try one last time to talk some sense into her. He walked in the room, and breathed a sigh of relief when he saw Justin laying in the chair asleep. Whitney was just watching him with tear filled eyes. He held out his hand and motioned for her to follow. She slowly walked to him, and the two of them walked out of the hospital into the garden that was behind it.

He found them a bench to sit down on, and turned to look at her. "Whitney..you're not allowed to talk while I'm talking is that clear?"

She rolled her eyes and he had to smile. "I want you to listen to me. You've got to stop wanting to give up so easy..yes I've given you this talk before, but I know you weren't listening. I want you to understand this..you've got to be strong just like the rest of us. Justin is going to lean on you more than any of us, and you've got to be able to handle that pressure."

She went to speak, but he held up his hand, stopping her. "Listen before you jump in...I know you're not the strongest person..but you've got to find that strength..you have love around you that is supporting you."

She nodded her head before sighing. "I hope everything turns out ok.." she said, falling into his familiar embrace. He kissed her forehead gently. "It will."

Denise smiled as she watched Justin interact with the fans outside the restuarant where he had taken her. It was their first date, and she couldn't help but smile at how nervous he had been. She never for once thought that he, the Justin from Nsync, would get shy around girls, but tonight he had proved her wrong.

After he had signed the last autograph, he walked over to join her. "I'm so sorry about that...but I can't tell them no."

She smiled, and started walking with him to his car. "Don't worry about it...its nice that you take time out for your fans."

He started the car, and the two of them left the restuarant. "Do you want to go home now..or.."

She nodded her head at him. "Or what?"

"Or do you wanna go for a walk on the beach?"

"I think I'll take the beach option," she said, as she turned her gaze from him. That night, he looked the best that she had ever seen him. Seeing him on tv was nothing compared to seeing him dressed up, but only to an extent.

They pulled over on the road and got out of the car, heading towards the deserted beach below. They walked in silence along the ocean, letting the ocean make all noise that needed to be made. She was enjoying the silence, and wanted to hit him for spoiling it. "Do you really enjoy the ocean?"

She nodded her head. "Yeah...I haven't really been here a lot..but its really peaceful and relaxing."

He took her hand, and she turned her head to look at him. "I always hold a girls hand when we're at the beach," he explained, smiling slightly at her.

She just nodded her head, silently saying that it was ok. Her hand was numb at the moment, and it was getting worse as he rubbed his thumb across the back of it. 'Just breath,' she told herself, not wanting to totally loose it in front of him. "So.."

His curls were blowing in the breeze, and he turned to look at her. "You aren't tired of me already are you?" he asked, giving her a wink.

"I could never grow tired of you," she said, searching his eyes, trying despereately to read what emotion was playing in them.

"That's a good thing...I think we have a great future together."

Denise remembered the moment like it was yesterday. She wanted to hold him in her arms so much, but she couldn't. All she could do was watch from above as he stayed by her side. Every tear that he cried tore at her heart, and she wanted so much to make herself wake up. She screamed, but no one answered. The only comfort she got was from Becky. She reminded Denise that it was up to her...if she wanted to live..she had to fight.

The thing that Denise didn't understand was that she was fighting and nothing was happening. No progress was being made and her spirit was growing tired, along with her body. It broke at her to see him cry as she laid there, motionless except for her breathing. Nothing was said, except for his confession of love. She wanted to tell him how much she loved him, but her voice never reached him. Nothing she did worked, and she was beginning to believe that fighting wasn't going to do any good.
