Karie Yearling watched her boyfriend, Justin Timberlake, practically make out with a girl right in front of her. They had been going out for about a year and a half now, and he had always been like this. She didn't know why she put up with it. Somewhere in her heart she knew that he loved her like the way she loved him, but there were times when she obviously doubted even the smallest chance of that being the case.
They were at a big Jive party, and no press was allowed inside. For some reason, she had chosen to come, hoping that Justin would change his ways for just one night. No such thing had happened. Tears came to her eyes as she thought back to how she had first met him, and how nice he had been....
Karie walked quickly down the nearly scarce mall. If she didn't hurry, she would surely be late for work. She worked at a new store that had just opened up in the mall, and she had to admit, there was a big reward for working there. All employees received a discount on clothes, and their clothes were way cool.
She glanced down at her watch, and the second she did, she came into contact with someone. The contact knocked her backwards, and she felt a hand reach out to steady her. Her eyes drifted up to see a pair of concerned ones looking down at her. They were baby blue, and she could feel herself already getting lost in them. She knew this guy. He looked very familar, but she just couldn't place him.
He stretched out his hand, and she shook it. Right away, she felt a jolt of electricity run through her hand. "Hi, I'm Justin," he had said, and flashed her a smile that could have melted even the coldest hearts.
"I'm Karie, and I'm also late for work, so if you'll excuse me.." she was about to walk away, and it hit her who the guy was. It was Justin Timberlake from Nsync. She stopped suddenly and turned around. "But, if you want to walk with me, I wouldn't mind."
He smiled, and he had walked her to work. As soon as they had arrived at the store, he had asked her out, and that was the start of their "loving" relationship.
She smiled as she recalled the memory. He had been so nice to her in the beginning, never looked at another girl when she was around, but soon things changed. Take it right now, there she was, sitting very close to him, and he kissed a girl in front of her. She looked around the table, and saw the other guys giving her sympathetic looks. She wiped the tear away that had managed to fall down her cheek and stood up.
She grabbed her purse, and was out the door. She knew that he wouldn't follow her, and for once she was glad. She needed time to think about what she was going to do. She didn't want to leave him, but how could she stay with him when he acted this way? He was breaking her heart a little bit at a time, and the pain was immense. No one deserved to be treated this way, and she was no different.
She arrived home at the house they shared. She needed sleep right now. She knew that when he came home, he would try to act like nothing had happened, and he would be sweet to her for a while. Those were the moments that always gave her hope. But, they were always short lived, and the hope soon faded.
She had been asleep for almost two hours, when Justin arrived home. She felt him slip into bed, and she tried not to move. She was successful, until she felt his lips touch her bared shoulder. She shrugged away. She knew that those lips had been on someone else, and that thought made her sick.
He leaned over her, and gave her a strange, innocent look. "What's wrong, baby?"
"Don't play dumb with me, Justin. You KNOW what you've done, and you KNOW what you've been doing. Do you care for me at all?"
"Of course I do. They mean nothing to me. I care for you."
"Well, you must not care too much. Justin, it hurts when you do stuff like that. In the beginning, you were sweet. You never did this stuff..but now...it hurts me so much. I love you, Justin, I can't deny that. Lord knows why I do, but from the moment I met you, I knew there was something between us. But, you must be too blind to see it, or you just don't want to see it. I don't know how much more I can take." And with that, she climbed out of bed, and walked into the guest room.
He turned over on his back and sighed. To be honest, he didn't know why he did it. All he knew was he did, and that he couldn't stop. He didn't want to make her hurt, but it was just the thought that he could do it, and she would still be there waiting for him. He shut his eyes, and let his mind wonder... "Justin, I can't take it anymore. It's over. You've hurt me for the last time." Karie said, as she slammed the door and walked out on him.
He didn't go after her. He thought she would be back, so he didn't even worry.
(An hour later)
"Justin, you need to get to the hospital. Karie was in a wreck, and the doctors say that its not looking good."
"Ha, poofu, very funny."
"Justin, I'm dead serious. You need to get down here now."
Justin hung up the phone and grabbed his keys. He thought that Lance was over reacting, but when he reached the hospital and saw the tears in everyone's eyes, he knew that it was serious. The first person he ran into was Jc.
"C, man, how is she?"
"Justin, you need to go say goodbye. There's no hope for her."
He let those words sink in, and walked slowly to her room. She looked so small and helpless laying there, and he wished that he could take back everything he had ever said and done to her. She didn't deserve any of this. Seeing her now made him realize what he had done had been wrong. He loved her, and it was taking this to make him see. But, the realization had come to late.
He walked over to her, and took her hand. She gave him a weak smile. "Oh, God, Karie, I..I don't know what to say. Please don't leave me."
"Shh, Justin, its ok. I'm not scared...maybe its for the best."
"No, dont say that. You're going to be ok. You have to...Karie, I made so many mistakes...I..I love you. You can't leave me now."
A tear sliped down his face, and she used her last bit of strength to wipe it away. "Justin, I've always known. That's why I hung around. I love you too, always remember that, and I'll always be there to watch over you. It's time for me to go now, tell my mom, dad, and the guys that I love them dearly."
He leaned down, and gave her one last kiss. Then, she was gone. The monitor was the proof. He kissed her hand, and placed it beside the bed, as the doctors came in. He had lost the one that he loved.
He reached up, and wiped the tears away that were running down his face. He got out of bed, and walked down the hall to the guest bedroom. The moon was casting light over her face, and she looked like an angel. The dream made him realize what she actually did mean to him. He brushed a strand of hair that had fallen on her face behind her ear. She stired when his fingers had brushed her skin, and her eyes opened and they locked on his.
She knew that he had come to a conclusion, and when he beant down and kissed her lips lightly, she knew it was one that she was going to like. His voice was caring, like it had been in the beginning.
"Karie, I'm so sorry, baby. I love you, and only you. Please, give me another chance."
She nodded her head, and touched his lips lightly. Whatever had made him realize his mistakes must have been strong. But now, they both knew, their love was special, and she was there to stay.
