"Yeah, come in." she said figuring it was her mother.
Anna walked in and closed the door behind her.
"Hey! What are you doing here?" Leigh said surprised to see her.
"I came to see how you were feeling." Anna said sitting down on Leigh's bed.
"Okay I guess. How was the rest of the trip?" Leigh said, not wanting to talk about the fight, and secretly wondering about Nick.
"A living hell." Anna said truthfully.
"Brian has been silent except for the occasional 'thanks'. And Nick, well when he wasn't sleeping he was staring off into space. Let's just say I am happy to be home." Anna added.
Leigh was about to say something when the phone rang.
"Hello?" Leigh answered.
"Hey, it's me." Nick said hoarsely into the phone.
Leigh thought it sounded like he had been crying. She took a deep breath.
"I am getting into the shower, sorry. Bye." she said quickly and hung up the phone before she could get a response.
"Was that Nick?"
"Yeah." Leigh said vacantly.
"What am I going to do?" Leigh said flopping onto her back.
"What is the big mystery? Tell him how you feel. What started all of this anyways?" Anna asked impatiently.
"More than you know. I mean, first of all we're always fighting every other second. Then I started caring about him, more than I wanted to. So I asked him what we were, he said really good friends. That crushed me. It really did. So I figured, if we are only friends, then we should lay off the kissing. Then when I started doing that, and tried to think of him as a friend, he tells me I'm all he wants." Leigh said exasperated by the situation.
"And now I feel horrible." she added.
"Leigh, don't worry. This all has to work out." Anna said.
The truth was, she didn't know what was going to happen between Nick and Leigh.
A week and a half later, Leigh was sitting flicking through the channels bored to death. There was a knock at the front door, and she yelled to come in.
She looked over he shoulder to see who it was, and to her surprise, she saw AJ walk in.
"AJ!" she said jumping up, excited to see him.
"Hey babe." he said hugging her.
"How are ya? I've missed you." she said sitting back down.
"Eh, good. So I heard you and Nick got into a fight." he said nonchalantly.
"Um, yeah. But I really don't want to talk about it." she said gazing down at her feet.
"Come out with me then!" AJ said making her stand up.
She groaned and shut off the television. They got into AJ's car, and drove over to his house.
