[=chapter three=]

Phoebe sat down on a bench in the park where she had bumped into Nick. She sighed and hoped that she would meet him again. She stuffed her earphones into her ears and blasted her Discman to full volume while she took her magazine from her bag and started reading, “Wait a minute,” she thought to herself, “If I do see him again, he might not want me reading about him.” Happy with the thought, she stuffed her magazine back into her bag.

“Where could she be?” Nick thought while strolling through the park where he had bumped into Phoebe, “What’s her name again?” He pulled the blue handkerchief out from his pocket. It was now wrinkled and crumpled into a little ball. He read the name off the corner of the handkerchief. “Phoebe…” He looked up and saw a familiar figure sitting on a bench, stuffing something into her bag. “Phoebe!” Nick cried out as he recognized the person sitting on the bench. “Yo Phoebe!” Nick yelled. The girl showed no response. “But it has to be her…” He approached her hesitantly, making sure that he didn’t get the wrong person, he tapped her on the shoulder lightly.

Phoebe suddenly felt a light tap on her shoulder. She turned around to face Nick Carter. Suddenly feeling very shy, she pulled her earphones out of her ears. “Hi.”

“Hi…” Nick replied unsure what to say, he had suddenly forgotten his purpose of finding her.

“Uh… y’know… I think you might have taken my handkerchief by mistake last time we met.”

“Oh yeah!” Nick said, remembering what he had to do. “I have it with me right now.” He put his hand into his pocket only to feel the soft material inside his pocket. He searched his other pocket, it was empty as well except for a few pieces of lint. Realizing that he might have dropped it while trying to remember the girl’s name, he came up with an excuse, “I, uh, think I left it at home.”

“So, um, when can I have it back?”

“When I buy another one.” He said to himself, “Why don’t I call you to see when you can come over to my place to pick it up?

“Uh, okay, where do you live?”

“No, never mind, give me your phone number and address and I’ll come over to your place instead,” he replied quickly scared to tell her his address incase it got around the internet. “Does she know who I am anyway?” He wondered as he watched Phoebe scribble furiously on a piece of paper.

“Here,” Phoebe handed Nick the piece of paper.

“Uh yeah, kay, I gotta go. I’ll call you.” Nick read the paper and waved a good bye to Phoebe.

“Bye…” Phoebe watched him disappear as he walked further and further away. She collapsed on the wooden bench. “God! I can’t believe I talked to Nick Carter personally again!”
