A few more weeks had passed and Nick’s condition was getting better and better, that he was ready to do the operation. The rest of the BSB had taken a holiday and dropped by often with the Carters’ to visit Nick. The public was aware that Nick was blind and many fans had supported him. Though there were still occasional stow-aways, everything was peaceful.

“I’m scared Mandy (Author’s Note: Hey! It’s a nickname for her, kay?),” Nick grabbed onto Amanda’s hand tightly when he was put into a wheelchair, getting ready for the surgery.

“Don’t worry Nick,” Amanda loosened Nick’s grasp, “Just relax, everything is going to be fine, just think, you’re gonna see again soon!”

“Still, I’m really scared… scared? I’m way MORE than scared! I’m terrified!” Nick grabbed Amanda’s arm again, this time, more tightly.

“Ow, OW! Nick, would you mind if you let go because you’re killing me and I think I’m more hurt than you are.”

“Would you stop being so sarcastic at this kind of time! Who knows? Maybe I’ll have an unsuccessful surgery and I’ll be blind for the rest of my life!”

“Nick,” Amanda whispered softly and she knelt down so her face is in level with his, “You know you can make it, remember what I said… ‘Never give up’? Well, you’re giving up now and that’s not helping a bit. Why are acting like it’s the end of the world? If you do get blind, at least you still have a life. You were still happy during the time you couldn’t see right? I cannot guarantee that you will fully recover but I can tell you that you’ll never recover if you keep this up. Where’s the faith and hope you had in you before? Believe in yourself Nick. You can do it.”

“Thanks…” Nick replied just as softly and held her hand. He kissed it and told her, “I’ll never give up… I promise. The first person I want to see when I wake up… is you… Don’t disappoint me…”

“I’ll be here waiting for you… I promise.” Amanda felt a tear spill onto her face. If Nick didn’t have a successful surgery, than his whole career is practically over. She gave Nick a light peck on the cheek.

“Remember…” Nick said one last time before being pushed away into the dim room behind the white doors.
