“Talk,” Emma instructed Liza as soon as they sat down with their lunch.
“About what?” Liza asked, opening the wrapper of her sandwich.
“The new guy! He’s so cute!” Emma beamed as she leaned back on the chair and smiled.
“Whatever, here he is,” Liza told Emma when she saw Nick heading towards them with his lunch.
“Hi,” Nick greeted them shyly as he slid into the seat across from Liza.
“Hey! This is Emma,” she poked Emma, “She’s a bit shy.” She told Nick when Emma started to hide herself under the table. She tugged onto the rim of Liza’s dress.
“Come down!” She whispered nervously.
“What?” Liza asked as she leaned over to listen to Emma.
“You didn’t tell me that he was going to eat lunch with us!” Emma exclaimed.
“What difference does it make? Just come back up and act like yourself instead of some shy freak that doesn’t know it’s way around the washroom.” Liza pulled Emma out from underneath the table.
“Hi Nick,” Lisa smiled a smile that was dripping with authentic sweetness.
“Uh, hi Lisa,” Nick replied nervously as Liza and Emma poked their heads out from under the table.
“I’ve brought my friends, you wanna meet ‘em? They’re way more cool than Liza’s friends,” Lisa continued with the same sweetness, only, slyness seemed to be added.
“What’s she doing?” Emma whispered into Liza’s ear. Liza didn’t respond. She just sat and watched Lisa flirt with Nick, and watching Nick’s responses. Lisa continued to persuade Nick to go along with them, but Nick refused.
“I wonder why?” Liza wondered. Finally, Lisa and her ‘obnoxious’ friends gave up and left, each of them giving her a mean glare before disappearing from Liza’s sight. Liza turned to Nick and said, “Why are you turning down their offers? Lisa’s one of the really popular people in school, I can tell you that this offer won’t be lasting. You don’t have to refuse her for me you know…” Liza drifted off. Emma stared at her incredulously as if she just threw a priceless rare diamond ring away.
“No, it’s okay. I don’t really like them anyway. No offence, but I don’t really like your sister.” Nick admitted.
“I understand, but she’s a good person really. You’ll see when you get to know her,” Liza defended her sister.
“Yeah right,” Emma mumbled as she remembered the time when Lisa and her friends had snapped her bra off in the middle of class and the time when they tripped her and numerous other practical jokes they had pulled on her.

“Hey Liza!” Nick called out in his convertible to Lisa. He waved her over.
Putting on a her sexiest smile, she approached the convertible slowly as if it was not a big deal, but the truth was, her heart was pounding as fast as it possibly could. “Finally! He finally found his mind and it told him not to stick around with Liza and company,” she cheered silently in her head as she thought about the pleasant thoughts that ran through her mind.
“I’m glad to see that you’ve decided to hang around me,” Liza grinned slyly.
“Uh… you Lisa?” Nick asked uncertainly.
“Yeah. Is there a problem with that?”
“Um, I was waiting for Liz… but I can take you too if you want me to or something…” Then he stopped. “Liz! Over here!” He motioned her over and didn’t realize that Lisa was fuming and growing red by the minute but Liza sure did. She didn’t know whether it was just her imagination or it was really there but she could have sworn she saw light smoke circling her head. Liza tried to ignore him but there was just too much people ; they pushed her over towards the sleek convertible where a red Lisa and a cheerful Nick was standing.
“Hi,” she greeted nervously.
“Hi yourself,” Lisa glared at her.
“Hey Liz, get on!” He opened the passenger seat door next to him.
“Um…” She glanced over to Lisa, “I’m not sure…”
“Aww… stop spoiling the fun! And um… Lisa, could you like, not lean on my car ‘cause I don’t wanna run over you,” Nick continued after Liza had gotten into the car.
“Uh… why don’t you drive Lisa as well?” Liza asked Nick. He nodded casually as if he didn’t really mean it. “Get in Lisa.”
“No thanks,” she scowled, “I have cheerleading practice and after that, I’m hanging out with my friends. Really COOL friends.” And with that, she turned and left.
“Really, I don’t get how you stand her, let alone live with her,” Nick shook his head. Liza shrugged, not bothering to defend her sister.
