Christina was in the den with Leslie and Angel. BJ was at a photo shoot and Aaron was busy upstairs playing video games. The trio was in the den watching ‘I Still Know What You Did Last Summer’. Well, at least they were, but not Christina. She was too busy thinking about Nick’s arrival. What would she say to him? Do I look okay? Oh my God! I’m not ready! After an hour of choosing clothes, she had finally chosen the right outfit. A light, green, tight dress that she had bought on her shopping spree with Leslie. It had seemed so perfect in the store, it made her look so… pretty. Or so she thought. But now, as she looked into the mirror, her reflection seemed immature and ugly. She thought she looked like a pig in a Christmas tree. She continued to worry about what Nick and her would talk about. “What?” Christina thought incredulously, “What am I thinking? A week ago, I was still daydreaming about Aaron! And now I’m worrying my head off because of Nick? The guy that has a serious hormone problem?” Christina said her last sentence aloud, though she didn’t realize it. Both Leslie and Angel stared at her, then at each other, and then laughed.
“Who are you talking about?” Angel asked in between giggles.
“Uh…” Christina reddened, the color of her face didn’t vary much from the color of a tomato.
“I bet it was Nick, wasn’t it?” Leslie asked, suddenly upset. “I thought you’ve gotten over him already. Plus, you’re someone’s girlfriend now! You can’t go thinking about some other guy!” Leslie sighed.
“It’s not that! I thought I’ve gotten over him. And I’m not thinking of dumping Aaron or anything, I still like him a lot.”
“Who? Nick?” Leslie scoffed.
“No! It’s just that… the sparks are gone between me and Aaron and I don’t want to hurt him either.”
“Is it because of–” Angel began to ask.
“No it’s not because of Nick. It just went… naturally. Don’t you see, a relationship is like that, once the special feeling is gone, then everything’s gone. You can’t get it back, and you can’t make me feel it again because it won’t work.”
Just then, the bell rang. Interrupting their conversation and not letting Leslie or Angel say anything more about her relationship with Nick and Aaron. Christina looked towards the direction of the front door. No one went to open it. Jane Carter was cooking, Bob Carter had gone out to pick up BJ, Aaron was glued to the TV screen, and Leslie and Angel were still waiting for her answer to the question she didn’t wish to reply. Christina was left with one choice, she had to open the door.
Taking in a deep breath, she stood up and walked slowly towards the door. The door bell rang again desperately. Her hand shook as she reached for the door knob. She opened the door, only to reveal Nick.
“And the trouble begins,” Angel mumbled in an unhappy voice as she shifted her gaze from Nick and Christina, back to the television.
