“Sit here,” BJ pushed Christina into the seat next to Nick, she fell back and fell on Nick, he grabbed onto her.

“Thanks…” Christina said embarrassed. Then, with her hair covering one side of her face, she glared at BJ. She sat down and pulled her chair away from Nick as far as she could. Aaron sat across from her, staring at her oddly. Then, he stared at Nick and back at Christina again. He didn’t say anything.

Dinner was soon finished and BJ and Jane Carter began packing up. Christina began to help as well but BJ stopped her. “I want you to get your relationship with Nick clear, kay? Either you’re Aaron’s girlfriend or just a plain friend. Same with Nick. Go talk to him…” BJ nudged Christina.

Christina stared at Nick whose back was facing her at the moment. “Okay,” she whispered back and walked towards Nick nervously. Taking in a deep breath, she quickly turned around again to ignore Nick. But BJ was watching her and she glared at Christina. Her glare read, ‘If you back out of this, I’m gonna make sure you really get it’. Christina sighed and sat down next to Nick. “Nick, uh… wanna talk? No, I mean, we NEED to talk.”

“Okay…”

“Somewhere private…”

“Right, let’s go out.”

“Kay…” She let Nick lead her out. Aaron ran down in time to see Nick and Christina go out together.

Once they were outside, Christina’s voice started shaking. Taking in another deep breath, she began to say her speech that she had planned weeks ago. When she practiced it, it seemed completely fine and she could memorize it, but now, her mind was blank. “Nick, what are we?” she stammered.

“Huh?” Nick turned to face her confused.

“Well, are we still friends? I know that you planned to get rid of me…”

“Yes we still are friends.” Nick glanced down at his shoes.

“Is that it?”

“Well, what more do you want? I-I didn’t plan to get rid of you, I-I just, just wasn’t used to someone living with me,” Nick lied. Not used to living with someone? Before living by himself, he lived with four of his siblings!

“No, that’s not it. I want us to be friends. You know… we don’t have to be uncomfortable each other anymore. Besides, I’m already Aaron’s girlfriend.”

“Aaron’s girlfriend?” Nick’s head perked up, “He didn’t tell me that!” Nick felt a slight disappointment for some reason. He didn’t know why, but he ignored the nagging feeling.

“What’s wrong with that?” Christina asked surprised, “He doesn’t have to tell you everything! Even Jane and Bob don’t know about this!”

“What?” Nick asked incredulously, “Even mom and dad don’t know about this? I can’t believe you, Aaron isn’t even allowed to have a girlfriend yet. He has to be at least 15!

“So what? It doesn’t affect him, it doesn’t affect me. Besides, I’ll be gone after the summer which is soon. I’ll be disappearing out of his life soon.” Christian pointed out.

“What if he really loves you? What if he can’t forget you? What will you do then? How could you be so selfish?” Nick asked angrily.

“What do you care anyway? It’s me and him! Not you and me!” Christina shouted back just as angry. Nick stayed quiet. Why was this his business anyway? It’s Aaron that’s that stupid to fall for her.

“I’m going back in,” Nick said quietly and walked back inside, “Guess we can never be just friends…”
