It was already after midnight when Nick and Christina pulled up onto the driveway of Nick’s apartment. Nick turned around to face Christina, finding her asleep, again.
“Does she always sleep when we drive?” Nick mumbled, unbuckling Christina’s seatbelt for her.
“I heard that!” Christina opened her eyes immediately and found herself lost in Nick’s blue eyes. Nick jumped back and hit his head against the top of the vehicle.
“Ouch!” Nick cried out painfully, rubbing his head.
“I’m sorry.” Christina said softly, “Y’know, I was… I was awake when-when we were in the car at your mom’s house.” Christina grew quiet.
Nick’s clear blue eyes grew wide with fear. “You-you mean, you, why didn’t you wake up?” Nick sputtered.
“I, I was tired.” Silence followed. “Nick… what are we?” Christina asked nervously.
“We’re friends,” Nick replied, looking the other direction.
“But-but, what was that kiss then?” Christina asked again, obviously disappointed.
“I don’t know okay! Stop bugging me with your fucking questions okay! It was nothing! Why would I fall for someone like you when I practically have half the world to choose from anyway?” Nick shouted at Christina. He immediately regretted doing so for when he looked at Christina, her face was tear-stained and her eyes were red.
“I HATE YOU NICK CARTER!” She screamed into the silent night. Christina ran out of the car. She knew it was stupid to runaway, she wouldn’t even know where to go. Instead, she took out her own set of keys, unlocked the door, and ran upstairs into her room.
“Oh god. What have I done?” Nick asked himself as he watched Christina run inside. He walked inside as well. “Christina! Open the door… please. I’m sorry… I was just really confused okay?” Nick pleaded as he stood outside of Christina’s bedroom.
“You’re confused? I’m even more confused than you are! I barely know you and you kiss me the second day you meet me! I should be furious and you say that I’m annoying you with my fucking questions! You’re making this so fucking hard for the both of us Nick!” Christina yelled.
“I admit that I do like you.” Nick replied quietly.
“What?” Christina stopped sobbing suddenly and pushed her ear against the door to hear more clearly.
“Never mind.”
Nick walked sulkily back into his room. What did he just say? Now it’s completely clear to him, he liked her, but there was a gap between them, he couldn’t figure out what though. “It’s the age…”
