“Hello?” Aaron said into the receiver.

“Oh hey Airboy! Get mom for me okay?” Nick greeted Aaron with a grin on his face even though he knew that Aaron could not see his cheeriness.

“Hey Nick! What’s up?”

“Listen, uh… AC, just get mom on the phone right now kay?” Nick said impatiently.

“Wait a moment.”

Nick chewed onto his fingernails nervously waited for his mom. He thought about how he was going to say what he wanted.

“Nick?” Jane Carter’s voice could be heard clearly on the other end.

“Uh yeah, mom.”

“What do you want?”

“It’s about Christina.”

“What’s wrong with her?”

“Can she stay at your place?”

“Why? You guys were getting along pretty well the other day.”

“No, it’s not that. Uh… something came up, the other guys are going to be coming over a lot to practice some new dance moves Fatima showed them the other day, but I couldn’t be there… y’know, five guys and a girl? Not exactly a perfect match mom. She might feel left out and you know me when I work, I don't care about anyone.” Nick was surprised at how fast lies came out when you needed them.

“I see… it is a problem then… hmmm… well, I guess she could always share a room with one of the girls. So, when will you drive her over?”

"Actually, I can't. I'm promised Brent that I'll go hang out with him. Can you come?" Nick chewed onto his lower lip.

"Well... okay. I'll come over now and you can go out with Brent."

“That'd be great. Bye.” “Yes!” Nick cheered quietly after hanging up. All he knew was that he didn't have to face Christina anymore. What he didn't know was that Christina was standing behind him throughout the whole conversation and heard every single wotd he said.
