“You’re going away on tour again?” Christina asked Nick, her head rested on his shoulder.

“Yeah,” Nick replied disappointedly, “But you knew this was going to happen sooner or later.”

“But they cut your vacation! I thought we have 2 more weeks together but not anymore!” Christina protested unhappily and sat up, crossing her arms.

“I’m sorry Chris, but, you know, I have to go,” Nick said helplessly as draped an arm around Christina, trying to comfort her.

“Whatever,” Christina mumbled.

“Please Chris, don’t be mad. You know I can’t stay.” Christina didn’t reply. Nick stood up and said quietly, “I’m gonna go now, kay?”

“Don’t go!” Christina turned immediately to face Nick and held onto his sleeve, “You’re leaving tomorrow, can’t we even spend the rest of the time we have, together?”

Nick looked at Christina and sat down next to her on the hammock. He shook his head with such little movement that Christina could not be sure that he said no. It was when Nick spoke, that she was sure.

“Please understand Chris, I’ll be back in 3 months.”

“3 months! You might as well find yourself another girlfriend! Maybe one of those teenybopper show-all fans that you meet on your tour,” Christina said bitterly and angrily at the same time, “Have a nice trip.” She turned her back to Nick.

“But, why are you like this? This is my career here! Not some vacation I’m going on!” Nick replied with the same bitterness.

Christina turned around, “Don’t you see? We’ve only been together for 2 weeks and now you’re leaving to some unknown country in this world! Do you expect that our love is that strong to survive 3 months without each other? I’d rather we’d break up now so that we don’t have to hurt each other more in the end! Trust me, we’d be in a much more embarrassing situation when you return if we don’t break up now,” Christina explained with tears in her eyes and hurt in her voice and expression.

Nick’s eyes widened when he heard the word ‘break up’, “No, Chris! You can not be serious! Just wait for me for 3 months! Just think of this as a test on how strong our love is! Please!”

“Nick, I mean it, break up before we break our hearts more. Forget me Nick. Trust me, this is as hard for me as it is for you. But at least you’d have gotten over it by the time you get back.” Christina loosened Nick’s grip on her arm and gave Nick one last glance before going back inside the house. She slammed the door and let her tears roll down her cheeks.
