Precious and Eve were at the waiting room of the agency. Even though Eve was telling her that everything would be ok, Precious wasn’t convinced at all. She was shaking her leg while looking through a mag hoping it would help calming down her nerves.
“Don’t tell me I’ll be one of them.” she mumbled showing a half-naked girl in the mag.
“It’s your choice. You’ll be assigned to go on stage for underwear or not. They’ll set you up, i dunno very much about it but managers will tell you.”
“You’re gonna impress ‘em.”
“I hope so.”
“ Where’s your self-confidence girl?” Eve looked at her sternly.
“I dunno, i’ve lost it this morning.” she replied weakly which caused Eve smack on the arm.
“Hey Eve, how long have you been in this business?”
“10, i guess...and still goes on. I joined that competition when i was five or so and i got chosen. And i’ve been here since then that’s why they listen to me. Basically it’s not allowed to the models to get in there and advice some other girl but they trust me cos i’m even more experienced then the managers.”
“Wow...you hadn’t told this to me before.” Precious was now really amazed. It must have been a hard thing to come here everyday and smile to the cameras but she’s been doing it for 10 years!
While Precious was pondering these thoughts, the secretary came in and ushered them the way to the main office.
“Don’t be afraid, they won’t bite you.” she winked at her and opened the door.
“You don’t seem to be experienced.” Precious said when they passed by her and entered inside.
There were five of ’em, four were sitting on the leader couches while an old man –he must be the boss- sitting in an armchair behind his desk made of mahogany at the bottom of the room, elbows placed on the desk, hands clasped together. While Eve introduced her to them, she just stood there and managed to give a smile and a weak “hello”. As Eve continued introducing the two sides, Precious’ eyes were stuck on the boss, she noticed he was staring her and snickering.
“Mr. Mitchell?” her face lit up with excitement.
“Yes Precious?”
“Oh my god, u two know each other???” Eve was dazed in shock looking at their face when Mr.Mitchell stood up and hugged Precious.
“Actually Eve, she happens to be my neighbor. To be honest, i was thinking to talk with ya about this stuff Precious, but it seems Eve’s faster than me.”
“She’s been trying to drag me here since last week and she finally...”
“Victory!!!” Eve shouted and smacked her on the arm again “ why didn’t you tell me you know Mr.Mitchell?”
“How could i know it was the same Mitchell when you kept talking about a Mitchell agency?”
“Ok girls, let’s now discuss the rules and all..then we’ll assign you.” He chirmed in.
“Did I get the job?” Precious asked astonished. She didn’t expect it to be that fast but it did.
“Yes honey, you did.” Mr.Mitchell smiled her and they all set down for the details for the ways to a bright future.
