The moment Nick threw his bags onto the bed of his hotel room, he plopped down onto the sofa tiredly, unsure of what to do. What am I supposed to do now? he asked himself This was so stupid of me, but then, you always have to make some sacrifices in order to get something that you want. He sighed, depressed, and bored. He considered the thought of calling Brian and asking him what was going on but then, he looked at his watch and realized that the guys were probably sleeping by now. I wonder who’s sharing a room with Brian now? he wondered. Glancing out the window, he saw that it had stopped raining already. He stood up and peered down. The busy people running across the streets, the cars and buses in a traffic jam. He sighed once more. Everything was so depressing here. For some reason, he felt this sudden pull and need of going downstairs to the lobby. He didn’t know why but there was just something there that he had to see. There probably isn’t anything he thought. Yet that did not discourage him. He was dead tired and he felt as if he couldn’t move a muscle again, yet, he needed to go. He had to see what it was before he regrets. Nick slowly counted to ten before standing up and opening the door to the long corridor.

“I knew it. There’s nothing to see here,” Nick muttered watching the busy afternoon hassle in the hotel lobby. He stood around for a few more minutes, with high spirits, and still, nothing. He pressed the lift button and was ready to go into the lift when he heard the most attractive and sexy voice he’s ever heard. He paused and turned around and headed towards the sound. He started to hurry, to find the owner of such a delicate sound, as he turned around the corner, he found… her. His heart beat stopped for a moment. The entire world seemed to stop leaving only him and her alone. He slowly approached her, not knowing what to feel. She stopped singing and turned to face him. She too looked shocked. Her mouth hung open like a dark dripping cave. He could almost feel the hole in his heart closing. everything didn’t seem to matter anymore. It began to rain again but he didn’t care. He loved the feeling of being washed by the light rain. The slush had frozen overnight due to the temperature change making it difficult to walk. With every step he took, he was closer to her, only, his steps seemed to be getting smaller and smaller, making it seem like forever to reach a few meters. She suddenly seemed to accept the fact that Nick had come back and she gave him a small shy smile. He stood directly in front of her stared at her for a few moments, taking in her beauty, finally, he couldn’t stand it anymore, he just had to be with her. He pulled her close and embraced her tightly. At first, she felt stiff and then she seemed to relax and allowed herself to be in Nick’s arms. Without even thinking about what he was about to say, he whispered promisingly in her ear, “I love you.”

What in the world am I doing? she scolded herself. He was embracing her, and she wasn’t doing anything to resist it. Things were not going the way she had planned them to. She had faced reality and decided to live her entire life alone until her bone cancer got to her and died. When he whispered ‘I love you’ to her, her whole world came collapsing down onto her. Funny, she didn’t think that her having bone cancer was such a big deal then, but now, it bothered her. She didn’t even know what her relationship with this stranger yet. Her angel. Nick. She had torn down her fantasy about being with her angel forever and faced the harsh and cruel world. Autumn bit her bottom lip, and allowed herself to relax in the comfort of Nick’s arms. She knew at that moment, that she had made the greatest mistake in her life.

Nick stared at her in admiration. He could hardly believe that he’d actually found her. She looked a bit nervous. They were sitting in a café in the hotel drinking coffee. Nick didn’t know what to do next. There was so much he wanted to say to her, but he didn’t know how to start. She began to talk.

“Nick, I, I wanted you to know that I can’t be with you for long,” Autumn began.

“Why? We’ve got all the time in the world.”

“I’m sorry Nick, but… okay, forget that I had said anything,” she replied. Nick gazed into her eyes and saw that she was hiding something. He didn’t want to question her what. She would have to tell him when she wanted to.

“Let’s go up to my room, there are too many people here anyway,” he took her hand and lead her to elevators. Inside the elevator, it was completely quiet. He pressed his floor number. Cornering Autumn, he gazed intensely into her eyes and began to press his lips against her. She seemed stiff at first but then draped her arms over him in response. His hands traveled all over her body as he kissed her hungrily. As his hands slipped under her shirt and reached her bra clasp, the elevator suddenly stopped and the lights went out. Nick regained his consciousness and looked around him in alarm. She screamed. “Shh,” he whispered, “It’s alright.” Nick stroked her smooth hair and discovered that she appeared to be a lot more cleaner than the last time he saw her. He let go of her and walked into the other corner of the lift to reach the emergency button.

“What happened?” she asked, her voice shivering, “Where are you?”

“It’s alright, I’m right here,” he turned back and held onto her hand.

“I’m scared Nick, don’t go. Stay here.”

He found her lips and his tongue explored her mouth. Moving down onto her neck, he could hear her moaning softly, he took off her coat and began to unbutton the top buttons of her white shirt.

She pushed him away slowly but he pulled her close to him. “Stop, Nick, stop.”

He backed off her and bit his lower lip, “I’m sorry. I shouldn’t push you into doing things that you don’t want to do.”

“No Nick, I want to do this but… but, but let’s just get out of here first okay? I can’t breathe in such a confined space.”

Nick quickly searched for the emergency button and pressed it. “Hello? Hello! We’re trapped in here!”

Autumn hugged him from behind and rested her face on Nick’s back. She could feel him holding onto her hands to assure her. Can sex give Nick my bone cancer as well? she wondered.

“We’ll send someone as soon as possible Mr. Sorry for the inconvenience.”

Nick turned around and hugged her tightly and sang softly into her ear.

I’d walk halfway around the world
For just one kiss from you
Far beyond the call of love
The sun the stars the moon
As long as your love’s there to lead me
I won’t lose my way believe me
Even through the darkest night you know

I’d go anywhere for you
Anywhere you ask me to
I’d do anything for you
Anything you want me to
Your love as far as I can see
Is all I’m ever gonna need
There’s one thing for sure I know it’s true
Baby I’d go anywhere for you

I used to think that dreams were just
For sentimental fools
And I would never find someone
Who’d give their love so true
But I knew the very minute
Couldn’t live my life without you in it
And now I want the whole wide world to know

I’d go anywhere for you
Anywhere you ask me to
I’d do anything for you
Anything you want me to
Your love as far as I can see
Is all I’m ever gonna need
There’s one thing for sure I know it’s true
Baby I’d go anywhere for you

At that moment, the lights came back on and Nick saw that Autumn was crying into his chest. He stroked her back and waited until the lift got to the 14th floor.
