The Giant African Black Millipede is the most commonly sold diplopod in the pet trade, and have always been so. These creatures come from the rainforests of east Africa, and do best on a diet of cucumber lightly dusted with RepCal or other calcium powders. These millipedes have an average millipede lifespan, about five years. If you are looking for a millipede to breed, consider the African Black. The babies will be small and white; and will live under the moss until they get bigger. This species will spend more time above ground than underground, and is the ideal classroom pet.
