Kevlar at Peachtree Road Playback

Kev
How lucky am I....I joined EJ.com in late September and one month later,
I'm attending the Rocket members' playback at the "Sanctuary Town House Studios" here in London.

The Studio is celebrating 25 years in the biz, and has played host to many great Names over the years. Queen, Frank Zappa, Robbie Williams, Blur, The Jam, Bob Dylan, Tina Turner, Def Leppard and not forgetting Elton to name but a few. Elton came here to record with George Martin the tribute "Candle in the Wind" for Princess Diana. He also used the studios for the soundtrack of Billy Elliot the musical. Coldplay were in the next studio while we were there, but I didn't get to see or hear them.

I can't tell you anymore about the disc, that you will not have already read on EJ.com, and by now heard. So let me tell you about the day. I arrived a little early and was greeted by Laura the editor for EJ.com, who took me to the games room for refreshments. A few people were already there. They had driven for about 4 hours to get there, which made me feel very lucky to live only 45 minutes up the road. Even moreso when I heard a couple of the guys had traveled down from Scotland. We watched the 4th DVD "Elton in four decades" from the "Dream Ticket" DVD set. It contains an interview with Nige and Davey and some great footage of some classic songs. Definitely one to get.

There was a fab surprise on entering the Studio, on each chair was a plastic wallet containing a questionaire, track and artist listing, a promotional copy of "All that I'm Allowed," a signed pic of Elton and an EJ.com laminate of the event. We also had a lyric sheet, but unfortunatly we had to give it back at the end. We listed to the album twice the second time for me was better as they cranked it up a bit. I loved the album, tracks that stood out after only two plays are "Too Many Tears," both of the singles, "My Elusive Drug," and what I'm sure will be a great live number in the "Crocodile Rock" vein, "They Call Her The Cat." When I played back the single on my 5.1 system it sounded even better than I remembered from the studio. So the album's gonna really rock.

I want to say a big thank you to Laura the perfect host, and EJ.com for a fabulous day out. It was great to meet some of Elton's devoted followers and listen to their stories. If you haven't joined yet I strongly suggest you do. It's well worth the 25 quid.
