Old Vegas was an amusement park located on 126 acres of land in Henderson, Nevada. It operated for eight years between 1978 and 1986. The $7.2 million park was originally opened as Westworld. It shared its name with its Houston based owner. In its prime the park employed around a hundred people, operated several rides and exhibited various Hollywood sets from popular westerns. Due to the failure of its parent company, the park was forced to close in 1986. After closing, it was sold to a real estate company. This company left the park in an arrested decay until spring of 1997 when they demolished the park and two historic structures within it. Today the property retains it large sign and an estimated $30 million worth of land.
