free. I am not sure if that is true for EDA tools too, but you be the judge.
Here is a list of free Verilog tools and utilities. Only those
tools/utilities are listed here, which are absolutely free. That means, there
is no tag attached to it (no "It is a freeeee 30 day trial version" here),
but there may be some limitations on the product.
Simulators
Icarus Verilog: is a
free Verilog simulator by Stephen Williams and distributed under GNU
public license (GPL).
VBS : Jimen Ching's school project
has turned into a full-fledged behavioral Verilog simulator.
V-2000: It is a Verilog/VHDL/Analog-Mixed
Signal simulator by Freware (I think there is a typo here ;-)
GPL Cver is a
full 1995 P1364 Verilog standard HDL simulator released under GPL.
Verilator:
A free high-performance simulator that translates Verilog to C++/SystemC.
Waveform Viewers
FreeViewer: A free waveform
viewer from SynaptiCad, the current owner of earstwhile VeriWell simulator.
Dinotrace:
A cool waveform viewer by Wilson Snyder.
GTKWave: A GTK (a graphics
library) based waveform viewer. Available for both Unix and Windows.
VCDWave: A Tcl/Tk-based
waveform viewer for Linux. Written by Robert Larice.
