Karen's Indigo Girls Boot Trading Page
Welcome to my Indigo Girls bootleg page. I am always looking for trades and I have some very basic rules. Please read carefully before contacting me to set up a trade.
THIS IS NOT MY MOST UPDATED LIST! Over the next few weeks, I will be updating this page (21 Feb. 2001). Also, I AM ONLY ACCEPTING TRADES RIGHT NOW...sorry, but I do not have time for b&p's.
For you IG list people, it's me, Karen from Wittenberg! If you want to learn more about me and my life, please visit my home page.
On to booting...
A note on CD-R's and Videos:
Although CD burners are quite common, I do not have one. Therefore I can only copy tapes. However, I will accept trades for CD-R's since many traders perfer to burn everything onto CD (plus, postage for CD-R's is cheaper than for tapes. And CD-R's themselves are also cheaper than tapes.). So I will trade 1 tape for 1 CD. As far as videos go, I have one VCR. Therefore I am unable to copy video boots (I wish I could, I have a nice collection!). But again, I will trade tapes for videos. Since videos are more expensive and shipping videos is costly, my policy is 3 audio tapes for 1 video tape.
General Rules:
- These are pretty much the same as everyone else's rules, but what the hell, I need rules too! :-)
- I will not sell or buy bootlegs. The Indigo Girls make no profit off such sales and I will not rip off my favorite artists. Plus, it is illegal to do so. The Indigo Girls (aka the Goddesses, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers) have a very liberal policy about fans booting their shows. They do not care, as long as no one makes a profit. In fact, they say it helps them because their music will get around more. But let's respect Amy and Emily and not sell or buy bootlegs. For more information, go here
- You must e-mail me to set something up beforehand. Please do not send me tapes without setting up a trade prior to that.
- Please include a note with exactly what you want and your e-mail address (so I can contact you if any problems arise). The what you want part is important. I do a LOT of trading and copying, and contrary to popular belief, I am not a mind reader.
- I only do this when I have time. There will be times (around finals and breaks) when I'll ask you to e-mail me in a few weeks because I am too busy.
Rules for Traders:
- You must use the highest quality tapes possible. I prefer Maxell GOLD tapes, but you can not always find those in the lenghts that are necessary. If Maxells are not an option, then please use another VERY high quality tape (eg TDK), NEVER use a tape intended for "everyday use".
- After we set up something, please start working on it right away. I will do the same for you and I do not want to wait three months for my tape(s) to arrive.
- No high speed dubbing. No auto reverse. No noise reduction.
- Please send me my tape in a padded envelope so it does not get crushed. I will do the same.
- I send cases. It only costs about 4 cents more, and since the US Postal Service sometimes screws up, that extra protection is a good thing.
- Please either label the tape (handwritten is fine) or send a set list. I will do the same.
- Please be honest. I do not like being ripped off. It has happened once, and I'd prefer that it not happen again.
Rules for sending me blanks to copy (b&p's):
- If you want something and have nothing to trade (or are just starting a collection), I'd be happy to help you.
- After we set something up, you will send me a blank tape for the correct lenght (I'll let you know) in a padded envelope, along with a smaller self-addressed and stamped padded envelope so that I can send it back.
- You are responsible for making sure that you have included the correct postage.
- I'll get your tape out to you within a week after I receive the blank.
- I think that 2 for 1 is stupid. Therefore, you only need to send me as many tapes as you want copied. Really, it doesn't take much time for me to copy a tape! But it does cause ware and tear on my stereo system. If I copy a lot for you, it is always nice to receive something small in return, like IG pictures, articles, or guitar pics. And of course, please have common curtosey. If I am copying a lot for you (like 4 or more at once), it is always nice to get an extra blank. Totally up to you, though!
- I ONLY do newbie b&p's when I have time! Trades come first.
A note about other artists:
A long long long time ago, I was hoping to start a Dar Williams boot collection. I gave up because colleting boots is time consuming. I am simply not as fanatical about Dar as I am about the Indigo Girls. Therefore, I am ONLY interested in setting up trades for IG boots. That said, I am also interested in boots where artists like Michelle Malone and Rose Polenzai sing with the Indigo Girls. And if you came to this page looking to trade Dar boots, you may want to find someone else. I have only one Dar boot and the quality ain't great. :-)
Click here for a list of good traders!
You will notice some tapes have a letter grade next to them. I have started to "grade" my collection. If you have any questions about the ungraded boots, let me know. The rating is based on SOUND QUALITY -- not on how chatty the Girls were or on setlist. My system is the same as everyone else's:
- A: This boot is awesome!
- B: This boot is good
- C: This boot is average
- D/F:: The sound quality is horrible! For diehards only
- N/A: This boot is currently NOT AVAILABLE for trade (Reasons include I need to reformat it, convert it to tape, my tape is too worn out, etc)
