"Trevor Linden had become Captain Canuck in Vancouver, the symbol of a franchise, its most familiar face, a fixture among charities in the community".
Here is a story I would like to share about the day I met Trevor, and also the first time I saw him play without a Canucks uniform on. I hope you enjoy reading through it.
Trevor Linden will and alway's will be my hero. I still remember the day I met him, February 16TH, 1997. The moments before I entered the booth to meet him, sitting beside him, telling him that I loved him, and thought he was the best player I have ever known of, telling him my name, as he proceded to sign my jersy, he put his arm around me, our picture was taken, I stood up, as he said to me "Lookin' good Tara" I walked away, streaming happy tears from my face, walking away thinking I was on top of the world. Nor did I know, that a short year later Trevor would be traded, leaving me devastated, with this time, sad tears came, never would the team be the same with out him. The day Trevor came back to General Motors Plac, February 24Th, 1998, I could never forget. This time a New York Islander. I begged my Father to take me to the game, he did. I walked down the stairs to our seats, this time he was on the visiter side, never have I seen him there before. I snapped pictures, and just watched him take shots and skate with his new team. Banner's decorated the building, as the lights dimmed, the song "We Hope You Had The Time Of Your Life" By Green Day played, we all stood in ovation for Trev, crying, I watched the 3 minute video, that seemed to have lasted a whole 10 years, the time that Trevor was with the organization. As it finished it read "Thank You Trevor and Good Luck". It was an emotional night to remember. I never really realized how much I'd miss him, once he was gone. There is no real sense in dreaming of the day Trev will return, that is hockey and hockey is life, I miss him, but have realized he is gone, and know he will be a successful and appreciated athelete in New York. BUT Vancouver misses you Trevor, thank you for all of your help, effort, respect, good will, and for being a special person. You touched many lives here, Not only mine, but many others. You Will Always be Our Captain Best of Luck.
Trevor Linden frequently visits British Columbia Children's Hospital. While at the hospital, Linden spends most of his time in the cancer ward with shut-in, terminally ill children and has since become a big supporter/spokesperson for the Canadian Cancer Society.
Okay, here is yet another story. This was told to me, by my Mother. The person who told my Mother was a very close friend of Trevor's, and beleive me folks, he really is (that's how I got my Trevor Linden Stick, shirt, puck, photos, not to mention stuff from other players and the NHL All-Star game) Ok, back to the story !! You may know that Trevor Linden was very active in the City of Vancouver. Always visiting hospitals/kids and so on. Well, he was at the Childrens Hospital in Vancouver one time, and he met a little boy there. Name not given. The boy was dying of cancer, and he was only given a few months to live. His dream was to play golf with Trevor Linden. Well, Trevor went there, and took him out of the hospital for one day, he rented a limo, and they went all the way to Whistler. They played golf, and the boy had one of the best day's he has had in a long long time. Well, once it all came to an end, Trevor took him back to the hospital. Only a few days after, the little boy died. He was at peace with himself, and knew that it was time for him to go. After all, Trevor made his one and only dream come true. *whoa, need a tissue?*

I thought you might enjoy this story about the first time I met Trevor. It was back in January of 1996. It was a few months after the news came out that his wife's name was on the a list of people someone was threatening to kill, and right after a fan broke into their house on a dare. I was a nervous wreak about meeting him because he is someone whom I admire a great deal for all the good things he does, and I had a preconceived image of what he would be like in my head, and I was afraid that I had built him up so high that I would be disappointed. Anyways, when I met him, there were about a dozen people around, and I had him sign a card, and I had my picture taken with him (but unfortunately the guy who took the picture cut off Trev's head). As Trevor walked to the bus, I wanted to say something about his wife to him privately, so I caught up with him, and said, "Trevor, I just wanted to tell you that I heard what's been happening with your wife, and I wanted to let you know that you and her have been in my thoughts and prayers." He stopped, looked me right in the eye, and said, "Thank you so much. I really appreciate that." From the way he looked at me, I could tell he genuinely meant it. He is such a nice guy, and an incredible person.

First of all, Trevor is my third cousin. I have only met him once at a family reunion in 1994. Yes right after the Canucks went to the finals. Anyways, all that we really did was play golf. My uncle, Trevor, another relative and I played. Which was ridiclous because he was a million times better than any of us. I have never golfed before. Linden had 1 shot on the green, Cole on the other hand had 67 shots on the green....Anyways we played some golf and I got two cards autographed. Nothing much, but that is my Trevor Linden story.
