COMPASSION

The Silence was broken by a baby's cry one night
Soon a young mother came running into sight
She frantically started looking up the road all around
Her mouth was moving but i heard not the a sound
I felt her panic and pain as i gazed upon her face
And I ran to her to help Lord, to be You in this place

A little clild lay broken her body scarred and marked
The one who caused this damage was taken for his part
The small one looked up at me,her eyes, pools of pain
I told her hush little one this will never happen again
That night i felt her terror and her fear of all around
I held her in Your arms Lord, my prayer the only sound

It seems it's easier to bear pain and sorrow than to see
Another's heart break open as the fear seems to run free
You gave us hearts to listen, to know what others feel
Lord you gave us arms to hold, prayers that help to heal
To share anothers feelings to enter into their soul
Is such a bittersweet gift, it helps to make us whole

So when I see another who seems to be so sad and low
I am filled with compassion, my feelings start to flow
I want to help them carry their cross a little while
And do so much more than to just give a hug and smile
Lord thank you for this gift to feel what hearts can see
Also thank you for the compassion shown to me
