FOOTPRINTS OF LIFE
A favorite poem i have read many times
Tells of walking a beach alone and seeing signs
One set of footprints are seen on the sand
A person so down and so blue walks alone and
Shakes a fist at the sky and cries to the Lord
You said you would be with me, you broke your word
My little one dont you realize
how i love you so much
When you see one set of prints i carry you,
feel my touch
I cradle you close to protect you from ill
What happens my dear is from your own free will
How many times in life have i tried to put the blame
For my troubles and woes on someone else to my shame
Its hard to look at what we do in our life
We make choices that may cause us pain and strife
But in all this we forget there is someone who cares
Who can lessen our burden and who does hear our prayers
He knows our fears and our desires and dreams
It's we who dont trust that he is all that He seems
At times we think we walk this world as a shadow
And just can't see that some plants in darkness grow
In our lives there are days when there seems no light
We are caught in a whirpool and no matter how we fight
Our troubles seem to drown us in saddness and pain
We wonder if we will ever be happy again
And finally when its seems we cant take it longer
We throw up our hands and beg the one who is stronger
To please give us peace and help us to heal
We fall to our knees and pray as we kneel
A miracle happens, though slowly sometimes it seems
Our hearts start to melt and our souls start to dream
We feel a peace enter our lives and the troubles are less
God has taken our burdens and lifted them off of our chest
We marvel how He can bring us from despair to hope
And we wonder why we ever thought we could cope
Without His wonderful love and his hand on our lives
Then realize He was always there, if we only opened our eyes
He holds us in the palm of his Hand
Waiting patiently for us to understand
Let us rest safely in his arms and not wait till we feel so lost
God is our strength, He always carries us as he did the Cross
I Love you my child, He says to our soul
Come let me hold you and make you whole
When the footprints are one then i rest in His arms
He protects me and loves me and keeps me from harm
So whenever you feel all alone and despair
Remember He loves you and he is always right there
